because mental laziness is affecting the individual?
Perhaps it is a topic that is really worrying in the teachers. It seems paradoxical that the more humanity progresses the more the tendency to think creatively decreases and yet it is not so contradictory. And it is that part of the technology has made the person less efficient in their task or work.
As audiovisual technology has progressed, there has been an increase in passivity and mental laziness and we tend to limit ourselves to becoming mere receptive elements of information, news, images, events without being questioned, to reflect, to establish relationships, that is, without the activity of creative, productive thinking going on the rise.

Laziness is not a personality trait, It is a custom acquired. Biological or personality factors can influence, but they are not determinative. However, the type of education we receive has a crucial effect on our role models. We do not do well long-term projects because they can not maintain a behavior. We look too hard at the goal and do not enjoy the process. There is an extrinsic motivation, a social reinforcement, since people from outside do see the result but not the process.
It is necessary to shake off our mental laziness and move on to critical action instead of becoming passive recipients of what happens in our environment. The thinker discovers, creates, draws conclusions, progresses, becomes more independent, less subject to be manipulated, more constructive, more capable of transforming his reality and more critical. We must not be afraid to think in case we discover undesirable aspects of our reality.
The lazy one wants to achieve his objective as soon as possible and without effort.
It is necessary to exercise the mind every day stimulating creative and critical thinking, asking questions about the why of what we see and finding answers. We can not let a few people think for us. Protect your mind against decadence and against intentional manipulation and do not let others think for you.
You must stress the need not to create unrealistic expectations, achieving objectives requires a cost, an effort that costs to maintain over time. We must have this premise very present.
Operate by objectives, not by emotional states.
Set achievable goals that guarantee long-term success. Those small objectives will serve to gain confidence and break the theory of previous failure.
Establish deadlines, we must find a space of the day to do what we have trouble doing.
Seek social support, share our activity with another person or engage with someone who has an active attitude, can be a way to motivate us.

The personality also plays its role. The passive-aggressive usually manifest a lazy attitude. I do not do anything but I complain, I'm uncomfortable with that lack of action.
It damages your self-esteem, I do not believe I can achieve my goal, I have low confidence in my personal resources.
Causes personal dissatisfaction, apathy and a feeling of emptiness.
It causes them to abandon their objectives soon. In general, they have a wide history of failure behind. They do not trust in their ability to excel and consider that they do not have willpower.
The pathological vague perceive life as very expensive and the activities as obligatory. They do not enjoy them because they think they involve a lot of effort.
