Learning with Memory Techniques: The Periodic Table of Elements (36-40)

This is an easy way to learn Krypton, Rubidium, Strontium, Yttrium and Zirkonium. Learning with memory techniques is much easier than rote repetition. Especially when the images are already layed out to you in a clear and intuitive way. In this series we will memorize the Periodic Table of Elements by connecting it with the Visual Major System for numbers. We will cover five elements per post with special training images for all elements and numbers. Please check out our other episodes for more elements.

Elements Legend

Each element comes with a special training image. These contain the element number, a common application, a phonetically similar image for the name and the element symbol. The color of each training image indicates the element category.

36. Krypton

In the Visual Major System 3 = M and 6 = G or K. With that we can create the word MUG. The thirtysixth element Krypton sounds similar like crypt. This element is used in geiger counters as filling gas.

In a gigantic mug a crypt is build in. The Ghostbusters go down with their re-functioned Geiger counter to hunt some ghosts.

37. Rubidium

In the Visual Major System 3 = M and 7 = L. With that we can create the word MILL. The thirtyseventh element Rubidium sounds like ruby. It can be used for lasers as cooling.

On the wings of a mill are four large rubys attached. The incoming light is being condensed through the gems into a laser which is powering the mill.

38. Strontium

In the Visual Major System 3 = M and 8 = B or P. With that we can create the word MAP. The thirtyeighth element Strontium sounds a bit like the word stranded. The element is often used for fireworks.

The map is wrong and a ship strands on a lonely island. They have firework loaded and shoot it into the sky to call for help.
Come up with your own story or ask your students to that.

39. Yttrium

In the Visual Major System 3 = M and 9 = J or SH. With that we can create the word MESH. The thirtyninth element Yttrium sounds a bit like the word IT. The element is used in Tube TVs.
