Young people are the future of society. That is why in childhood they should be provided with an environment full of harmony so that when they are adolescents they enjoy GOOD MENTAL HEALTH, and can perform well in adulthood.

What is mental health?

Mental health refers to the ability of the individual to function within society in a healthy and harmonious manner. Mental health is formed from childhood, when we teach children to have a good use of their emotions, an important part of integral development. Enjoying good mental health allows people to face life's difficulties with a positive attitude, learn from them, learn from them, and be productive in the midst of difficulties.

Main characteristics of mental health:

An adolescent in good mental health has the following characteristics

✤ He has good friendships, and maintains a cordial and friendly relationship with all the people around him. (Relatives, friends, teachers and other authorities). He knows how to live in perfect harmony.

✤ He has good self-esteem and accepts and wants himself as he is.

✤ He is open-minded and knows how to take advice from his elders.

✤ He is in solidarity with other people and helps when they have problems.

✤ He is happy for the achievements of his family and friends.

On the other hand, if an adolescent has the following symptoms, it is possible that

✤ Most of the time he's living in discomfort.
✤ You have no friends, no respect for your family.
✤ Depression and anxiety.
✤ Aggressive behaviors and consumption of alcohol or drugs.
✤ Apatia for school responsibilities and poor grades.

Adolescence is a very difficult time in which young people have to go through sudden changes and processes in the emotional, physical and psychological. Parents should be very alert, to provide and seek help.

Instructions for promoting good mental health from infancy

✤ Teach children to value, love and respect each other as they are.
✤ Encourage them to practice some exercise and healthy eating.
✤ Teach them to choose healthy and good friendships.
✤ To make family meetings where they share lived experiences.
✤ Teach children and youth to express both negative and positive feelings.
