Protein

Is a very important nutrient for the body, such as for bone, muscle, to skin. In fact, proteins are present in every cell in the human body and are the main constituent components of all body cells, especially muscles.
In addition to water, proteins are the most abundant molecules in the human body.

Protein Roles and Functions

Proteins perform many important functions in the body, among which the main ones are:

  • Energy sources
  • The formation and repair of cells and tissues
  • As a hormone synthesis
  • As an antibody, destroy toxins

Animal Protein and Vegetable Protein

Proteins are polymer chains arranged by a collection of interconnected amino acids. As a nutrient, the protein will be decomposed in the stomach (digestion) into a smaller and simpler polypeptide, to supply the amino acids for the body, including some important amino acids that the body can not produce itself.

The human body can indeed produce several types of amino acids, but not for some other types of amino acids. Proteins obtained from meat and other animal products generally provide all the amino acids the body needs. That means including amino acids that can be produced or not produced by the human body itself. Therefore, proteins derived from meat and other animal products are called complete proteins.

Proteins derived from vegetable products are incomplete proteins. That means that the protein obtained from one of the vegetable products does not provide all the amino acids needed by the body; but other vegetable products can provide other types of amino acids that are not owned by the first plant-based products.

To get complete protein from vegetable, we must consume many kinds of plant foods. For example, complete protein can be obtained by eating rice or bread and nuts.

Protein Sources

Generally we can get the protein intake needed by the body through food, without having to consume protein supplements.

Here are the sources of foods rich in protein:

  • Fish and shellfish
  • Meat
  • Egg
Milk, including dairy products like cheese, yogurt, and so on.
  • Nuts (peanuts, peas / peas, etc.)
  • Plant seeds or seeds
  • Soy products (tofu, milk, etc.)
  • Potato

I hope this will be a useful lesson for steemjetters wherever they are and friends.
