From the burst of Japanese bubble in1990, BOJ gradually proceeded to purchase Nikkei 225 companie's shares. Now 50% of them are under BOJ control. For example, BOJ is the second largest shareholder of First Retailing(UNIQLO located in Regent St. London etc.)through ETF.
Yes, I have seen the UNIQLO stores and have to say I am surprised they have survived as the quality seems to be second-rate. Now I know why they are still around. Thanks.
