Steem-Monsters League Now Pays Top 50
Its been a great few days in the Steem-Monsters community. First we were introduced to the New 5 Mana summoners and now the news about the league rewards being more spread out.
I for one love the new payout structure of the league. It creates more winners and creates incentive for players to play longer. The 100 booster pack prize for first place is a big drop from the 250 offered last season but I believe its still a very fair prize in a 14 day league that also offers daily prizes to its users.

Steem-Monsters is a digital card game created by @aggroed and @yabapmatt. Early game release has launched and prizes are already up for grabs. Honestly, I'm getting my ass kicked and struggling with SM right now.
I thought I had a fairly good deck, but because I've not been buying, and missing out on some of the daily quests, I think I'm going backwards pretty sharpish.
I checked the decks of @beeyou and @davemccoy in the discord yesterday and was blown away - their decks are x10 more valuable than mine! :O
I guess I'll have to buy some more, or just suck it up and accept my Gold 3 rank :)
Hey Asher, if it makes you feel any better, I'm not doing that well either :P ... I think there are 2 factors that make people "good": 1) and by far the most important is having all the right cards and 2) having the experience in all the different scenarios (important, but not too hard to master relative to buying all the cards). I do think things will continue to evolve and maybe that balance will change based on a rule or format change. And ps... @beeyou rocks... she is by far the best in our group and puts all the boys to shame :D
Yes that does make me feel a bit better, but I'm still a bit frustrated to be losing so often after doing quite well prior to Christmas. Maybe I should have a chat with @beeyou for some tips, or some cards :D
I underestimated how hard it would be to get into the top 50. I been getting my ass kicked on the battle-field. I am still stuck on gold atm. As you said having all the cards is most important .... it looks like I may need to do some more combining and swapping :P

Its a tough game for sure. Some of those rewards cards have almost become essentials to have if we want to get to and compete at the top.
This will be my first attempt at climbing the league and I have no doubts I will need to do some combining and swapping at some point to be competitive.

Bit of a moot point for me I think. My deck is nowhere near strong enough to even break into the Top 100
I think you could do it. Our over-all deck value is about the same. I did some swapping and combining today and currently in gold 1. I am going to make a run for it and see where my deck ends up.
Seems competition is picking up that for sure. I don't know how I snuck into gold with my starter deck last season.
I noticed that as well, more trying to position up the league I suspect.

I will have to step up my game, though. Last season, I finished in 90th place.
I will have to level my deck a bit more. Which means I will need to combine accounts. It's a difficult decision, because combining accounts means I will earn fewer reward cards...
I'm thinking about selling off my entire gold deck, and use the money to level up...
Decisions, decisions, decisions... if there's one thing I hate, it's making decisions :0)
I haven't tried to see how far up the league I could get yet but its not looking good thus far. I'm essentially in the same boat as you. Yesterday I started removing cards from one account to level up my main. I end up purchasing $20-$30 worth of cards also. Considering you kicked my ass in every tournament we both been apart of it looks grim for me reaching the top 50 without doing more combining.
