SteemMonsters: Alpha vs Beta cards - which to collect?

Hello SteemMonsters fans.

Another day, another opportunity to battle your monsters in the SteemMonsters arena -> exciting. 😎

After you have purchased your Starter pack (remember to use my ref link: https://steemmonsters.com/?ref=sm-master), you will need to decide whether to collect and level up Alpha (1st edition) or Beta (2nd edition) cards.

Which is better to collect you may ask???

Normally, because Alpha are the (a) 1st to have hit the market AND (b) because they are much more limited: 300k packs vs 900k packs for Beta AND (c) it takes less alpha cards to level up than it does Beta cards -> collecting Alpha should be the better investment longer term.

BUT: having said that, as new players join the game and start buying cards and packs - they will be buying Beta packs as Alpha have sold out. And then in order to level up their cards, these newer players will want (or be stuck with) other Beta cards for the levelling -> thereby increasing demand for the Beta cards right now.

This can be seen in today's market... there are some Beta cards selling for more than their Alpha equivalent.

Conclusion - buy Beta for short term profits and Alpha for long term profits.
