In this post we announced that we would be releasing a
New Reward Edition Card every day for 20 days!

Today we will be releasing a new
Rare Neutral Card - Prismatic Energy!

Any Summoner in the Splinterlands may now conjure up a giant ball of energy which can soak up a bunch of damage, is particularly effective against Magic attacks with Magic Reflect and Void, and dishes out its own Magic attacks against its foes!

I wish you actually changed how magic works, rather than making the game nothing more than rock-paper-scissors.

This game is a weeeeee bit more complex than RPS my friend.. lol

Not that much. And magic in particular is a big offender in a rock-paper-scissors economy.

There's an element of differentiation that considering magic bypasses armor, ranged is position restrained to the rear, and melee is also position restrained to the front. Given that neither of these are uniformly interchangeable given their capabilities and restraints, the criticism seems a bit harsh.

Except, magic only has upsides, for the most part.

Which in turn led to half the reward pieces being centered around countering magic, rather than actually changing how magic works to begin with. Rather than letting it warp the game.

Totally useless at 8 mana. For 5 mana you get same abilities with Haunted Spirit +HEAL!! and only 1hp less...

You’re better off spending that extra 3 mana on Screaming Banshee which is OP at 3 magic damage +2 magic damage to any adjacent monsters.

You're missing a couple really important things:

  1. Haunted Spirit can only be used with the Death Splinter whereas this card is neutral and can be used with any Splinter.

  2. This card has Magic attack so it can attack from any position whereas Haunted Spirit has Melee and can only attack from the first position (in most rulesets).

In a higher mana cap game, if you suspect you'll be up against a heavy magic attack team, you could use this card behind a Haunted Spirit and totally shut down their attacks. This card could also be pretty powerful in the "Target Practice" ruleset, again since it can be placed in a back-row position to soak up all the Snipe attacks.

@yabapmatt tbh, I thought it was death splinter at first glance, good point about it being a neutral card. At least it’s not as useless as Rusty Android 😂 but I guess new rules could change everything.

why Rusty Android is so useless ?
If their are rules with mallee attack from all positions or mallee attack has sneak I think it's not so bad Card - especially if you expect that your oponent use Magic attack against last Position (f.e. with Goblin Sorcerer).

There is so many better ways to counter magic, like the Lord A, who is cheaper mana and also reflects magic (not even mentioning the Haunted Spirit). You’re really picking the weeds here trying to find a use for the Rusty Android (at least the name fits)

If yes than just look carefully to the stats of the Cards.
Rusty Adroid reflect Magic from Level 1 on and Lord Arianthus not !
Unfornately I have only one Lord Arianthus (Level 1) and also look in the market what cost one Card of Rusty Android and what one Card of Lord Arianthus ?
Another Point: What you do with your Lord Arianthus when legendary Cards are not allowed ?

@schachoberhessen no need to move the discussion to LVL1 cards... Let's focus on MAX LVLs since that's what these posts focus on.

Lord Arianthus (Lord A) is VERY useful, so is Haunted Spirit... My point is that there is a few very very bad cards in this game which have absolutely no use in 99%+ of possible combat scenarios and these cards include: Rusty Android, Dragon Whelp, AND Prismatic Energy

Sure it's possible to theoretically find a use for them, but after playing top ranking games and tournaments and analyzing high level play, I'm just saying what the reality is. Sorry, the truth isn't fancy or fun or even positive sometimes...

Look at my deck, look at my game history, I probably use some of the most obscure, rare builds... and even I can't find a use for them.

A lot of anti-magic in this new reward set. Hope there's some more anti-melee coming up?

I don't even know how fun the last 4 cards are😂😂 now another card that probably hard to get already release, will read any posts about this one later... anyway😉 nice colour and cool abilities. Wish that no more rusty, genue, vamp and highland archers in the next dq rewards 😂 i think everyone already has enough.

This is a pretty weird one even for Steem monsters lol but I’m loving the variety of characters and I’m sure as we grow people will begin come up with all sorts of weird and wonderful combinations
