KEYCHAIN
Let's start with the biggest update... we've integrated the Keychain browser extension and you can now login and use SteemPeak without sharing your private keys. Of course, if you don't have the extension or prefer to keep using SteemConnect you can always use SteemPeak as you already do.
Keychain is currently available for Chrome and Brave. You can get the latest version of the extension here.

What you cannot do with Keychain
When you use Keychain your private key never leaves your browser, so you'll not be able to schedule posts if you login with Keychain. At the time of writing the only way to schedule posts on SteemPeak is using SteemConnect.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM KEYCHAIN
- SteemPeak automatically knows if you have Keychain plugin installed
- Logging in is just a matter of typing an account name (as long as you're logged into Keychain)
- First, log out of your account so that you can log back in with Keychain instead of SteemConnect
- You may manually approve each unique blockchain transaction
4b. Or you can tell Keychain to always trust that sort of transaction - Controls for Keychain permissions are in the Keychain browser extension
BE CAREFUL WITH KEYCHAIN
- Be careful with the computer you are logged into with Keychain.
- Use Keychain settings to make sure no one but you can access your computer while Keychain is active.
- Log out or set up auto log out of Keychain so no one can abuse your Keychain access when accessing your computer.
THE JOYS OF STEEMPEAK W/ KEYCHAIN
Many people will use Keychain because of the security benefits and the fact you don't have to trust anyone or any app with access to your posting authority, however, there are some really wonderful time and energy saving benefits

Actions like Sending Steem, SBD or a delegation just got so much faster and easier!

... also way easier and faster now.
Please note transferring to savings is still SteemConnect action for now.
WITNESS VOTES:
We're polishing this function up so hopefully it's functioning by the time you read this post (or early tomorrow)... but think about the process of giving out 30 Witness votes in a couple of minutes. Whereas it was about that long for every vote prior to Keychain.

It's nice that you guys have integrated the keychain...except it still only supports Chrome.
However, it's really not so nice that now you don't load up comments by default. This will discourage users from reading and upvoting comments when they read a post.
The design of the popup to read posts is also questionable. It cuts off a chunk on the side of the viewable area. One of the nicest features of SteemPeak was the huge display of photographs (well, except ones posted to busy.org, which don't load), now that's cut down at least a bit. This may be less pronounced for people that use SteemPeak on large monitors at max...but I mainly read posts on my second monitor, in portrait mode, or on only half of my main monitor, so I can keep an eye on the markets. To me, it just seems like a poor design decision to cut out a section of your viewable area so you can see the greyed out feed in the background.
You also didn't update the URL to that of the post when viewing it. This is annoying for when you want to share the link. Thankfully I figured out that you can get the link from the top when I needed to share a link to a post earlier, otherwise it would have been a slightly bigger hassle.
Edit: A side effect of this new setup of reading posts is that when I view an image that didn't load because the post was made on busy.org, when I click the back button, I have to find the post again, as it does not go back to it. Tre annoying.
Hopefully Keychain will support more browsers in the future (there is already a request to have at least a Firefox extension).
Also we disabled comment loading by default to reduce the load on the steemit API. But keep in mind that you can always turn off the new slideout panel in your settings. This will restore the old behavior and the post will open in full page with comments too.
Can you also share a sample of pictures posted on busy.org that does not load for you? I'm pretty sure to have seen a good number of them while browsing.

Keychain supports Chrome Opera and Brave so far, and the update to support Firefox is currently being reviewed.

Please jump on into our discord you're obviously passionate about things so we'd love to have you. I think you're used to sites that when they make a change they are slow to fix something that's not working. That's not us.

Great work. What benefits does keychain provide over steemconnect? Aren't both methods just as secure?

With Keychain your private keys are used on your computer to sign the transactions that you broadcast on the blockchain. With SteemConnect you grant your posting authorities to allow it to broadcast operations on your behalf. Also transactions that require an active key must be signed manually on the steemconnect website.
Both methods can be considered secure, it mostly depends on how you want to store your keys and on which device you want to use them.
In my mind keychain security is completely in your hands it's just a matter of keeping your computer safe. With keychain it feels like you are the master of your security.
However I've never felt non secure with steemconnect. But add the ease of use benefits of keychain and I'm switching.
Jarvie, I'm LOVING the keychain integration with steempeak. thank you! i had an error this morning while trying to delegate from my @ohanahealing account to my rawutah account using the keychain delegation tool on steempeak. i usually use steembottrackers delegation tool...and this was my first attempt using keychain. i attempted to delegate max...and it said error. now...my rawutah account is showing zero delegated from ohanahealing. when i attempt to delegate again...i cannot. hmmmm? any ideas or thoughts...to lead me to fixing this? i'm at a loss. thanks for any help you can provide. -jake
i can see the steem power...is there on ohanahealing with steemworld.org but ....i cannot access it to re-delegate to rawutah.
ok...i think i figured it out lol. looks like the delegation is ending from ohanahealing to rawutah....in a few days. i'll just re-delegate then. lol..cheers bro.

We're glad you're liking the pop-out window. We have some improvements coming for it as well.
Fantastic! I can't wait to see them! I might also suggest implementing this ability for viewing notifications as well, that way it won't load a whole new page when I want to see what reply I got on a post. That'd definitely help make notifications a lot more dynamic like viewing posts now are. :)

Not sure if it's just me... but since the changes sometimes the grid display (of posts) won't scroll down (Mac OS, chrome). It's happened a few times on different computers... seems random.
Also, I prefer to see comments when I click a post.. glad to see that you can still do that in the settings.
@timothyallen thanks for reporting the grid issue. I'll try to replicate it an find a fix.
Also probably I'll restore the comments loading when opening the panel considering the number of requests we have received :)

Switching between accounts works great. They can be keychain or steemconnect or an assortment of both.
Great Update, Keychain is the right way to go for all Steem Interfaces in the future.
