SteemPeak Release - Update v1.17 - Posts Search and New Voting Mana Bars
A new version of SteemPeak is now available. With this release the ability to search for posts has finally been restored. Keep reading for more details about this and the other improvements ;)

1. Posts Search
The biggest change in this release is the ability to search for posts. Give it a try at https://steempeak.com/search
The new search page is powered by eSteem Search with some additional refinements to better tune the provided results.
Considering that there is a monthly cost to us to use this service we are restricting the ability to use the page to logged in users. There is also a monthly limit to avoid abusing this service, if you hit the limit please contact us ;)
The layout of the page is also slightly improved:
2. New voting (and downvoting) manabars
This is something that our users asked in the past and it's finally available. To avoid cluttering the interface too much the bars are visible when you hover with the mouse on the top right menu.
Also if the voting mana is below 80% the color will change slightly to reflect that the mana will take more than one day to fully recover.
3. A new tribe is now enabled
The Natural Medicine tribe is now enabled.
4. Update icons in the login popup
Steem Keychain and Stemmconnect icons in the login popup have been updated to match the current versions.

Other than the major changes described above there are other small fixes and improvements. This is the full list:

This is interesting but I'm not sure it's the best option for the final users. @jarvie and @justineh some feedback?
The youtube player is something the everyone recognize easily and everyone is familiar with. Switching to another player will make people a bit confused because they posted a youtube link and they don't see the embedded player they are used to.
Seems a change valuable only for a subset of users but can give headache to many of them.
Just my opinion, I would like more feedback on this one ;)
I agree, but clicking a play button is not the hardest these days imo :)
I would like all steem apps to be more independent of Google products though

I can't find the search feature on my Steempeak dashboard.
Great new update @steempeak! I am a bit unsure of the new search feature, though, as the few times I have used this feature, I have done it from here:
So, the link you provide appears to be a completely separate interface. Are these two different ways then to Search? Or do both ways generate the same end result?
Edit: I think I have answered my own question, as they provide two different results. Anyway then to have what I have shown above linked to this separate new Search functionality?
To search for posts you have to open the full page (click on the magnify lens). In the top bar only users and topics are displayed.
Okay, thank you@asgarth. I was typing in the limited space there and thinking I would then click on the magnifying glass icon. I now see that just clicking on the icon first takes you to the great new interface you have built for us! 👍
There is no magnifying search lens on my Steempeak dashboard.
I agree I have clicked the magnifying glass several times expecting a similar result and been confused.

Thank you. I hope that they respond back to me. I know that it is very difficult to get the Steemit staff to respond back when one e-mails them. The Steemchat room doesn't seem to be available anymore. I recently claimed my Hive account, and I went into their chatroom and found out that Hive is no longer a part of the blockchain but rather sort of a twin sister to Steemit. I know that that sounds weird, but that is what someone in their Hive chatroom told me. So many strange things are going on right now with Steemit and the blockchain. I miss the old days when I first joined Steemit in 2017, and there was no limit on how much you could post and just about everyone posted on Steemit instead of the blockchains. How strange this writing platform has become for all of us.

Post searching is very important. I just tried it, though, and it's only returning a small percentage of the matching posts. E.g. if you search for 'ura-soul', you get back a random selection of posts from my time on Steem, but only probably 1% of them.
We plan to improve it, is just a starting point ;)
Great ok - an incomplete search that is incomplete at random is still better than an incomplete search provided by google that is incomplete deliberately and not at random!
Presently each set of 20 results we get costs us and we want to make the results better and better.
Oh I see, ok - I think you could improve it by providing different search filters or sort orders. At least that way we can stand a better chance that the 20 will contain what we need.
Also, in case you are unaware, the main search bar in steempeak doesn't work at all for me in firefox. I entire a search term and hit enter and nothing happens. If I click the magnifying glass after entering a search term, I am taken to the search screen but my search term has been lost.
Yeah the search bar may have a couple issues with usability most people think that magnifying glass initiates a search... sadly it does not.
So the search bar doesn't currently have a use other than to do a lookup for users?
I guess that's probably true. The top search bard is only a lookup of accounts. Wow that seems kinda sad when you put it that way. We should make the UI better or even the wording so that people know the top search only finds accounts.
Seems there's a difference between this simple search and our new advanced search found on it's own page.
https://search.esteem.app shows your posts as well as others who mentioned you in their post. Default ranking is Best which means it sorts with highest payout. Date shows with latest to oldest, Relevance uses relevant data ranking, which can be improved for sure. Steempeak should return similar results.
Be happy. The search feature doesn't appear at all on my Steempeak dashboard.
Awesome update! 😁. Any chance you are working on fixing tags? The second five tags are still just decoration.
Unfortunately that's not up to us. The official API works with only the first 5 tags :(
They need to fix the search feature on Steempeak. I don't have it on my Steempeak dashboard.
