into the world of competitive PUBG
Hey there everyone! Welcome to blog #2 and here we will be talking about competitive PUBG! Yay!
Wait wait wait.. Before anything else, what is PUBG anyway? 🤔🤔 Well, it's kinda complicated to explain it in detail but to summarize everything. It's an online game where you "spawn" in a deserted island where there are gazzillions of guns anywhere ranging from handguns to sniper rifles and a GODLY GODLY FRYING PAN ( yup! A frying pan, no doubt about it, you read that right! 😁 ) and try to outwit, outplay and outlast 99 players (yes, this is like survivor and no we don't start with tribes. heee! 😳)
Trying to be on top of about 100 players seems easy, if not for the fact that you gotta start with no weapons, limited ammunition and if your unlucky literally bringing a knife (or a frying pan!) to a gun fight.
PUBG's gameplay is a new genre in the ever evolving gaming scene where people basically scavenge to survive, although after having everyone else killed besides you would only merit you a feisty chicken dinner, and another repeat of the same setting with different players. Nonetheless it will give you that kick of adrenaline that you have been looking for without the risk of injuring yourself. Short intense bouts is what PUBG is all about, Trying to stay alive whilst looking for supplies while at the same time trying to figure out where the other 99 players are will keep your brain working and alert! This is just one of the many hobbies that i have taken up!
In this game you will see people doing stunts with their sidecars, flying cars, and chinese people shouting china numbah wan all over the place. 😂
Hopefully i have introduced the game to you and already have an idea what kind if game we're talking about. Now, enough with the introductions and let's get to the main topic.

So recently with all the craze of this game and the traffic it produces per day in steam (it's the #1 most played game per day btw 😊 much higher than DOTA2) it's not surprising that there would be tournaments held locally and internationally.
Since the game was still at the peak of it's hype. My friends and i tried to join MET's PUBG Asia League, a tournament hosted by the ever popular Mineski Gaming League!
Here we are at the gaming site, we were the first of the few people who arrived early and i really did not expect a 10am call time to start at around lunch. After taking this picture we went and ate at mcdonalds to order ala king with strong arabic coffee with 2 extra salt packs LOL.
Here we are 10 am on the game site, we were like excited kids waiting for the new toy to be purchased at the store.
In the pic (From bottom to the guy that has a red cap) : Raphael "Potato God" Rosal , Raphael "Pack Mule" Montiague, Alec Marie "Bangas" Galvez, Deanno "Din Du Nuthin" Baluyot, and Willard "Audience" Asuncion.
Unfortunately it didn't start at the expected time so we went out and ate at a mcdonalds near us and .. well.. i ordered coffee with sugar, not coffee with salt. (Humingi ako ng kapeng MATAPANG hindi kapeng MATABANG.)
Now fast forward into the tournament we started around 2pm for the preliminaries for bracket B,there were around 2 brackets during the tournament with 40 players each per game. The tournament adapted the point system for it is better since there are like 40 players competing all at the same time.
Here is a picture of us before we we're going to lose within 10 minutes. LOL
so yeah.. fast forward into the tournament we lost, 10th place out of 10 :(
We may not have been able to successfully get that feisty chicken dinner , but atleast we were able to get the feel for the tournament and hopefully win on the next local tournament that will be hosted by the NGCA on the 12th of may.
All in all PUBG competitive play is very different , i've been playing FPS, TPS games for almost 2 decades and this was the first for me in this kind of tournament setting. Hopefully we wouldn't get squad wiped within the first 10 minutes of the game on our next bout for the chicken dinner :D
That's all for today! Hope you guys learned a thing or two about PUBG and well.. maybe, see you in game ? :D hehe
Nice post!
Hi there @dvoriderph! I haven't played pubg, it's not really the game for me. When it comes to survival games, I'd rather play Ark, catching and riding dinosaurs :D
I just wanted to say though, I love your way of writing! I hope you'll enjoy your time here on Steemit and share more of your adventures with us.
Thanks! @playfulfoodie i'm really just trying to express myself the best way i can. I'm quite animated when i talk therefore it kinda got ingrained even on how i write things. Nonetheless i'm really having fun on steemit!
Too bad tho that you're not a fan of pubg but ark is still a good game! And atleast you don't need to mindlessly jump off an airplane every 30-45 minutes to try and win some kfc again. Hahahaha
