Promotion Celebration – Enorme Italian

Today was finally the official day of my promotion after a few long years of hustling and hard work. My boyfriend decided to go a little fancier and took me to an Italian place to celebrate! He said I should be rewarded for all my efforts even though to the company it is expected of me. Sigh. The working world these days. At least somebody is appreciating and rewarding me for everything I have been through! He picked me up after work and we headed to Enorme Italian.

Okay first things first, the location of the restaurant looked decent from the outside. However, the second you step into what looked like an REALLLY old mall, you would probably fear for your life. Thankfully it was still daylight when we arrived so it was pretty well lit, but the place look kind of eerie. The only thing keeping the place alive was probably the restaurant. Basement and proper outdoor parking (roadside) is provided so no worries there. The crowd was minimal considering it was still a little early for dinner.

It was our first time here so we followed the guide of the recommended food on the menu. We decided to order two large pizzas (it is actually a regular sized thin crust as explained by the waiter) and a pasta to share. Plain water was provided without us having to ask so I appreciated that. The restaurant is well decorated with red bricks and wooden furniture. It had a very old western, cozy vibe to it which was nice and pretty romantic.

Our first dish, Nero di Seppa priced at RM37 arrived first. They provided us with smaller plates to share. The pasta was actually a squid ink pasta cooked with white wine, leek paste, garlic and topped with tomatoes. I did not fancy it much as it had a sour taste to it and the taste of the squid ink did not stand out at all. I have tasted better.

Then came the mouth-water Carbonara and Pancetta Amante pizzas costing RM40 each.

The Carbonara pasta had a sunny side up egg in the middle along with crispy bacon pieces, button mushrooms and heavy cream. It literally tasted like carbonara except 9999999x better in a pizza form! The Carbonara sauce was strong enough to match with the taste of the cheese and bacon, while the watery egg yolk added just the right finishing touch to each bite. Much love for this one!

Despite its fancy name, the other pizza was basically a standard pineapple and onion pizza with the extra “magic” of bacon bits. It tasted good, but nothing special in my opinion. In conclusion, this place is a 8/10 for me. But I would definitely be back to try their other pizzas, maybe in the enormous size next time !
