Hotel industry of the future

in #steempress5 years ago

Nowadays, like all other sectors, the hotel industry is rapidly evolving thanks to the development of new technologies.

The vast majority of people at home have a TV, computer, smartphone and tablet. Thus, obviously, when we traveil and stay at hotel, we would like to feel at home. Hoteliers are well aware of it as well and are developing new strategies to improve the customer experience by installing gadgets.

Service robots

These robots have the function of fulfilling automated tasks which will facilitate the work of humans tomorrow. The first humanoid woman conceived for hotel service, in Tokyo, responds to the name of Aiсo Chihira, and performs typical tasks of a traditional receptionist. There are other robots that can perform room service, bar and laundry tasks.

Digital signage

The term digital signage is often used when flat screens or other display devices are used to present moving images.

Thanks to this device, the customer can find out about the services offered by the hotel, as well as the necessary information such as the pricing and the hours during which he canuse the device.

Concierge tablets

Concierge tablets are interactive computer-based solutions that provide hotel guests with general information about the hotel and hotel services in digital form.

Tablets are particularly useful in hotels as a marketing tool for selling products and services, and for building customer loyalty. The tablet in the room is integrated into the company's control system, can be used to control the characteristics of the room (lighting, curtains, air conditioning, etc.), or for entertainment, and it replaces, for example, the guest folder, alarm clock and advertising display.

Virtual reality (VR)

Virtual reality is a world created by technical means, transmitted to a person through his senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch and others. Virtual reality simulates both exposure and response to exposure.

Panoramic video creates the effect of presence, allows the viewer to familiarize themselves with the place presented in the video. VR video and 360 video do not limit the viewer to the frame, but offer complete freedom in the choice of the object to be looked at, unlike a traditional photo or video.

Los Angeles designer Jinsoo An created an experimental restaurant using Project Nourished virtual reality using an Oculus Rift headset. The project allows people suffering from various medical contraindications (diabetes, allergies, obesity ...) to try prohibited foods.

Chatbots

The use of chatbots in the hotel industry is constantly evolving, but currently encompasses a wide range of services, from hotel reservations and service requests to pre / post-stay requests and general travel advice.

What is the purpose?

Admittedly, the investments can be very important, the installation expensive too. However, this type of new technology has many advantages for the end consumer, as well as the hotel, since most of these will generate a lot of additional turnover in the long term.

A hotel could use these new technologies as a competitive advantage, the best proof is, that there is even an "Oscar" in the hotel world that we can receive like the hotel with the best digital innovation.
