Eh, I put my Art Curation Project on hold for the same reason... but I think I'll need to reboot it soon. The #NewSteem thingy seems to be fading away already. Humans cannot change their habits overnight, I bet most of the whales will revert to their old ways soon enough. I see some of them already did.
Thank you @trincowski, we also thought that something different to do to engage more users. You are right especially after Steemfest and due to approaching of December holidays, people will go back to their routines :)
