Ther is a movement called Little Free Libraries, where people build little cubbies for books and put it in their yard for people to share books for free. There is a website, littlefreelibrary.org - but not everyone puts their LFL on the site map. I put things in all the time and love them.
Great here in Karachi a few people have also started a donation library where you can donate your books and people can borrow and read it.
