The assassins hunt after Sen. Henry, still thinking he’s the last guard. Meanwhile, the guard finds rifle ammo, loads his gun, and kills the assassins. The guard thinks he’s saved Henry. But once Henry realizes what happened, he becomes enraged that his plan is ruined. He tells the guard to shoot him in the shoulder. The confused guard refuses. Henry points a gun at the guard’s head and yells at him to shoot. The guard, still unable to force himself to shoot his benefactor, asks why Henry wants to be shot. Henry tells him about the whole scheme. The guard refuses again. Henry kills the guard, then shoots himself in the shoulder. But he misaims and unintentionally kills himself.

The Governor wins the election. After the victory party, he retreats to a back room. Dr. Otagburuagu is waiting for him. The governor greets Dr. Otagburuagu warmly, thanks him for everything, gives him a sack of money, and asks him what else he can do to repay the favor.
