Finding a GOLD nugget in the wild (VIC, Australia)
This is a video taken on my first day out detecting with my minelab SDC2300 metal detector where I found a lovely 1.2 gram gold nugget. In fact it was taken in about the first half hour of stepping out of the car into a likely looking piece of bush! At this point I was thinking detecting for gold was going to be a profitable venture!
This is my first foray into video editing and posting a video online. Hope you enjoy.

You did a great job... thanks :)
My wife will not let me do this. :) Was in Victoria once in 2010 around Mansfield visiting family. Would that have been the right area to prospect? There were mountains closeby I remember. Greetings to both of you from a Dutch gold stacker.
Thanks @goldrooster. Yes there's a good bit of gold up around Mansfield and Jamieson and as you go up the Goulburn river to Woodspoint where there's a gold mine.
How cool! Reinforces our desire to get a metal detector! Thanks for sharing!!
I bought the detector almost 2 years ago and have found 3 gold nuggets and 1000 assorted nails, bullets, and horseshoes... it's good fun to get out there in the bush but odds are you won't get rich quick. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
I love the look of your nugget but I can’t get the video to play.
Thanks! Yes it looks like Dtube is being a bit slow, but it does play eventually.

Hey Nice Shirt! I'm in Colorado and have gold prospecting videos too! Great video and awesome nugget!
Cheers! I'll check out your prospecting videos too.
Congrats on your find! How much does it weigh? @ironshield
Cheers! It's 1.2 grams.
It's like finding a $50 bill on the ground! Win! @ironshield
one may also be lucky, WOW xD
Cheers... it was pretty lucky!
It looks, like fun! We live near beaches that could be filled with lost tourist treasure. It would be really cool to use the wild gold to pour into something new!
I think I would keep the wild gold, as it doesn't get more pure than what is found in nature. I'd melt those Pamp bars myself. .........Thanks for sharing your metal detector theasures.
I've got a cheap detector and used to comb the beach.. lots of fun. My partner actually found MORE Aussie currency (gold coins) sparkling in the sunlight than I did on multiple occasions.. and she didn't use any detecting gear.
Freaky stuff!
Nick.
Now that’s a talent worth having!
