We are carrying around some dead weight that needs to be trimmed off.
And I have no Idea how to do this. When we started #steemsilvergold, there was never any one person in charge. Now there are about 7 of us who have been here since day one. But we have members who haven't posted in over 6 weeks.
We need to come up with some rules as a group. We do not need a list of 190 members and we really only have 100. So here is what I recommend, at least 2 post a month. Now every member should be able to do this. But again I am not the President of SSG. So this need to be a group discussion and decision. Now I also recommend this, who ever nominated the inactive member needs to be the one to un-nominate them.
Now since we do not have a President in this awesome group, then I think the final decision should come from one of the group mods. Now I want everyone to have some input on this topic but it has to be addressed and I dont necessarily have the answer.
I want this group to grow with active members not just a list that is made up with 50/50 members. Now I also understand that some people have to leave for awhile and I get that. Thats why this need to be discussed and a group decision made. @silverstackeruk does member ship list every week. He will also be doing a post about this tomorrow but I wanted to get it out there so everyone could start thinking about it. So lets talk about it.
I’d have to agree Ray. SSG is for active members to engage with other active members. I would think there was no reason for anybody to balk at being excluded from a group they pay no attention to...
As for any of us here dealing with any associated guilt (although i, personally, am not 😜👍), i would just say:
SSG is an active group that flourishes because of its activity. We are a superb example of a focus group. And just as with any selective forum, and indeed with any financially rewarding endeavour, there are basic requirements that must be met in order to participate, and to reap the rewards.
I totally agree Ray, the more active a member is the stronger we grow in my opinion. I honestly think you should need to post more than twice a month, maybe atleast 5 times. I understand that some people has to take months off at a time but all the person would have to do is let a mod know. Just my 2 cents!
I believe that some steem members got frustrated when the price of steem itself dropped off below $2 and faded off. But the #steemsilvergold members have no excuse to drop off. But the world is large, there are many countries with new people realizing what this community can offer. They may discover this group, want to join and add interesting content in the future. I believe the membership is concentrated in North America, the UK, and Australia. I myself, from the USA, but have a unique prospective from living in a gold center in Dubai. So I say to keep an open mind.
This is all true. I also think that as a group of stacker, the steem price drop should not have effected us, we are used to price drops. But we do need active menbers promoting the tag. Thanks for the comment.
I'm surprised the number of stackers on steemit - they're everywhere! I'm shocked how many people I used to interact with are gone off steemit now! No sense keeping them as ssg members, if they don't ever post! At least twice a week. @ironshield
Purge! Hack and slash at the dead weight until all were left with is a pile of limbs and a pool of plasma! ..and all the regular active members ofcourse 😁

Dead weight is taking away from the entire group. I went through the list a while back and there were over 40 members that I never saw a post from.
