The 1990 and 1991 1 oz Kookaburra's were the first ones of the series and the only Kooks with the $5 face value, all the rest from 1992 onwards have a face value of $1.

I not sure why they switched to the $1 face value. If I was to guess I would say it's because in 90 & 91 they only produced the 1oz coin. From 92 they made the 1, 2, 10 oz and the 1 kg, so I think it fit in better with the rest of series, cheers.

Nice coin... In France, Kookaburra was a comic book when I was younger. I didn't know about the bird :-)

It was aboout science fiction but I don't remember the story really, it's to reread but the drawings were superb...
