SteemSnap is the first photo app for the Steem blockchain where every single image is cryptographically verified. No gallery uploads, no desktop uploads, no tag abuse – only real moments captured live through your phone camera.
⚠️ Important: Simply using the #steemsnap tag does NOT make your post appear in the SteemSnap feed. Every post is verified with a unique cryptographic hash that can only be generated through the app. Curation happens exclusively within the SteemSnap app.
📸 What is SteemSnap?
SteemSnap is a mobile photo-sharing app built exclusively for Steem. Think of it as Instagram meets blockchain – but with a twist: everything is real. No filters, no stock photos, no AI-generated images. Just authentic moments from real people around the world.
🛡️ Security & Authenticity – What makes SteemSnap unique
- Camera only – You can ONLY take live photos with your phone camera. No gallery uploads allowed
- Mobile only – Desktop browsers can browse the feed and vote, but cannot upload photos
- Cryptographic verification – Every post receives a unique app hash that proves it was created through SteemSnap. Posts without a valid hash are not displayed
- Watermark – Every photo is automatically watermarked with @SteemSnap to prove authenticity
- Duplicate detection – Each image is hashed (SHA256). The same photo cannot be posted twice
- EXIF time check – The app verifies that photos were taken moments ago, not days or weeks earlier
- Beneficiary verification – Only posts with the correct 15% beneficiary setting appear in the feed
📱 How it works
- Open https://steemsnap.app on your phone
- Login with your Steem username and Posting Key
- Snap – Take a photo with your camera (max 3 per day!)
- Choose a category (Nature, Food, Pets, City Life, Selfie, Funny, Travel, Sunset, Art, Random)
- Add a short caption (optional, max 280 characters)
- Post – Your photo is published on the Steem blockchain with a visible watermark
Your original photo is automatically saved in full resolution on your phone. Only a compressed version (2048px, optimized for web) is uploaded to the blockchain – so you always keep the high-quality original.
🎯 3 Photos Per Day – Quality over Quantity
Unlike other platforms where you can spam unlimited content, SteemSnap limits you to 3 photos per day. This means:
- You think carefully about which moments are worth sharing
- The feed stays clean and high-quality
- Every photo gets the attention it deserves
- No spam, no content farming

Quick Tap – Tap the heart icon, choose your vote percentage (25% / 50% / 75% / 100%), and confirm
Long Press – Hold your finger on the heart. The longer you press, the higher your vote! Watch the percentage rise in real-time. Release to cast your vote at the reached percentage
Double Tap – Double-tap the photo for an instant 100% vote with a heart animation

SteemSnap automatically detects your phone language setting and displays the interface in your language:

15% of each post rewards go to the @steemsnap account to support app development and maintenance. This is set transparently via the Steem beneficiary system – you can verify it on every post. 85% of rewards go directly to you, the photographer.
