Hello @elumni! Welcome to Steemit first off. Basically we upvote the post like you would for any other post. In order to enter a "bet", we upvote the picture of the fighter or team we think will win. That is it. We simply swipe the image of our pic to the left and the upvote and reply buttons appear. One goal for you is to increase your reputation score. In order to receive the winnings for your pick, your reputation score needs to be 35 or greater. Hope that helps.

Regarding SteemSports, you need a reputation of 35 to be able to win, just vote main post and vote the comment you think will win, and then wait around 3 days for payout. Good luck on Steem.
