Ok. Most food more than $5 USD is regarded as not for the common folks. The government minimum wage is less than $100 USD per month to give you a perspective on things.

The minimum wage is a joke. Yes, a steemit can go a long way in improving the lives of people here. I just hope many of them join. Just that many are a bit cautious of anything done online due to losses incurred in a recent failed ponzi scheme just like all ponzi usually end.
