STEMng Digest: Week 32

in #stemng6 years ago

This is the 32nd episode of the #stemng digest series where we bring to you some of the best posts under the #stemng tag in the past week.

For those that do not know yet, stemng is a sub-community of steemSTEM, a community-driven project which seeks to promote well-written and informative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics posts by Nigerians on Steemit. The project involves submitting quality STEM-related posts to the steemSTEM management for upvoting and resteeming where applicable.

More information about stemng activities are found here, while details of what it means to be part of steemSTEM can be found here, as well.

As we usually do, we have sifted through the stemng tag and even though there were several good posts to choose from, below are the posts that stood out for week #32.

Saturday: Subvocal Recognition Technology (SVR) - An Alternative To Brain-To-Brain Interface (BBI)

@samminator shows a sneak peek into technology's attempt to interface the audio functions of the vocal cords with the computers. A technology which is out to showcase another means of communication which may replace the traditional voice communication which we use today.

Sunday: Alcholism and its Effects

The @masterwriter writes on alcohol and alcoholism. The health and physiological implication and possible treatment were just a few of the topics that the post covered.

Monday: The Lick Of Death

The next post was composed by @florae, it is about the dog, the man's best friend and the potential harm that may occur if one gets nipped by an unhealthy one. For more details, we encourage you to visit the blog.

Tuesday: The role the immune system play in carcinogenesis

The immune system prevents us from getting sick and gets rid of threats to our health. @donefezy takes a critical look at some of the functions of the immune system.

.

Wednesday : THE UNANSWERED QUESTION ON FRATERNAL TWIN CONCEPTION

The fraternal twins do not look similar since they develope from two sets of egg and sperm. The @yhubi tries to answer the niece's question on whether fraternal twins are an abnormality. To see how far he went into answering the question, you will have to visit the blog.

Thursday: We Created Plastic. We can't do without it. Now, We're Dying in it: A Study of how Degrading Plastic Emits Greenhouse Gases

The well-crafted post by @olasamuel surveys the everyday product that most of us cannot do without- the plastics. It is an interesting article and an eye-opener on some of the recent discoveries surrounding it.
