Weekly Update 10

Quiet Week As Backlog For New Lease Orders Start To Grow!

Week 10 was a quiet week on several counts. To start off we have a large 445 SP order for 20 weeks outstanding with MinnowBooster, it hasn't filled yet but I don't want to chase the market up since steem is coming back down. If we stay patient we should be between 4500 and 4800 sometime next week. The bottom line is our vote value still throws off a record $0.22 per post per steward, so very soon it will be even higher (if steem just stays flat)!
Order On The Minnow Booster Books

fog update 10c.JPG

As stated above this week was kinda quiet. We stayed steady as the 175 delegation we had on order didn't fill and then we added it to a 445 SP 20 week order (our longest yet). This is a way to extend the duration of our portfolio as we start to anticipate renewing our future expiring leases. Remember originally we did 4 week leases in the first few weeks (which have expired) and then we did a few in the 8 to 10 week range. Those will start to be coming due soon, so we will either replace them or renew them, depending on the rates we received. That's ok though, as we have the longest duration since the account is open, which means the value to the SOG members will last longer!
During the week we received 3 donations (a new donor @preparedwombat and 2 repeat donors). @howtostartablog generously donated 5 sbds, @preparedwombat 1 sbd, and @abh12345 0.50 steem; and again of particular note is @fulltimegeek returning with his full upvote! Every week I get heartened to see the support from random members helping each other to also show respect to what @fulltimegeek has created! Thank you very much all of you, it is much appreciated for sure!

Don't forget who we are helping, this is the full list of SOG members supporting FTG: @fulltimegeek @abh12345 @allseeingewe @buddy67 @c0ff33a @carey-page @carlgnash @cbanks @cecicastor @cheneats @coolguy123 @cranium @crimsonclad @dakini5d @davedickeyyall @defango @drakos @einarkuusk @fabiyamada @flauwy @frankbacon @geekpowered @goldendawne @greenrun @hendrix22 @hitmeasap @howtostartablog @inquiringtimes @kryptokayden @kubbyelizabeth @leighstewy @lifttheveil411 @lukebrn @luming @lyndsaybowes @marxrab @mikepm74 @old-guy-photos @openmic @orcheva @originalsimulant @quitefrankly @realtreebivvy @reko @samiwhyte @skycae @somethinfishy @spiritualmax @taskmaster4450 @theuxyeti @votovzla @wisewoof @yagoub
The vote values held up as steem rose earlier this week and then dropped in the back half. Net net the vote value is still casting at least a $0.22 (unch.) on each and every post and that doesn't include the votes joining us on our curation trail. The upvote is strong and now we actually have a backlog of new orders, which is pretty fantastic if you ask me! Again thank you all for making this project work beautifully!

Tell your friends about what we are doing for the #stewardsofgondor, we want the program to continue to grow and support the many things the SOG members are doing.

This Weeks Payment On Posts Today (~$35 sbd)

fog update 10a.JPG

Tonight we will receive the 10th weekly payout since the launch of this program. The payout should be $35 sbds, and it plus any donations will be used to lease more long term SP. Note: This is in addition to our 445 SP lease already in backlog on the books.
We have successfully built up and stabilized our account, and now we should provide a steady and growing upvote if we continue to get your support. The goal is to give the SOG members a real benefit and with your continued efforts to support us, we will continue to build the SP and curation trail.

As mentioned earlier these new donations and earnings of sbd from posts will be reinvested to grow the SP so that the SOG members get a bigger hit to their upvote. We have now started lengthening the leases from 13 to 20 weeks depending on market opportunities.

red-diamond.gif

What you can do if you want to support this project to help @fulltimegeek and his #stewardsofgondor

#1 You can follow what we are doing and tell your followers and friends through various methods
#2 You can upvote our posts to increase the amount of earnings we have to lease more SP
#3 You can follow our curation trail (84th place already) on steemauto and have your upvote show moral support (even 2 or 3% is something that matters because it all adds up)
#4 You can donate directly like the wonderful people above
#5 You can delegate any of your own SP for any period of time that suits you while this Quest is ongoing
#6 Last but not least, you can thank the individual "friends" that are supporting this effort directly. Sometimes just a stop by and a small note saying you appreciate their help will make a big difference to a donor's day!

If you can't do any of the other 5 and you support what we are doing, then #6 is a very very effective way to help us. It encourage them to spread the word and rewards their efforts with "respect"

Hi!

I'm kinda new... what does the Stewards of Gondor and Friends of Gondor do? I realise it's probably an annoying question... but there wasn't really a mission statement or explanation in this post. I recognise a lot of the names as all round great Steemians... so at first glance it seems like something I'd like to get involved in.

Hi @daclawboyz... The Stewards of Gondor are the people that were delegated SP by @fulltimegeek. What happened was that FTG got so much power in the beginning that he was afraid he was going to skew the rewards by being too big. He was concerned that the weight of his vote could skew who succeeded and who didn't. So he devised a plan to delegate almost all of his SP to people who he felt would build the community and make steemit a better place. That way he was no longer the "decider", but instead his power was used by his stewards (stewardsofgondor members) to use their good judgement to grow the communities in ways they deemed right. IE he spread the responsibility to people that he felt did a good job.

It worked as many awesome steemians have trained many more steemian to be good community members. I myself was a delegee from @abh12345 who is a SOG member. Asher, @goldendawne, and @coolguy123 have all shown me how important it is to carry out the spirit of what @fullltimegeek did.

Then what happened is that FTG decided to take back all the power that he had delegated in order to fight against what he felt was greed by a specific large steemian (known as the flag wars if you have ever seen that term). So since he took back all his delegations, that left many of his stewards with a tremendous loss of power. Many of them had projects that they were working on and it was quite a blow to lose that support, so I decided to see if I could start something to help them.

Basically I came up with the idea of "friends" of gondor because I myself have never been delegated SP from @fulltimegeek. But I knew that I wanted to help keep this message of selflessness alive and keep people motivated to continue to be community oriented. I also knew there were many other people like me that also respected and admired what the stewardsofgondor had done collectively to make this place a better place to be. I thought they would also want to help keep this project alive.

So I decided to start @friendsofgondor as a vehicle to do just that. What happens is really simple. We do a post once a week and take whatever that post pays and add it to what donations come in, and then use that money to lease Steem Power. This SP is then used to upvote all SOG members posts to give them a level of support. While it is not anything like the support they used to have, it is still a nice thing to know they are getting the full value of the votes from the account. The account only upvotes the current SOG members and no one else. It essentially is a way for people like me as well as SOG members themselves to say with every vote that is cast that "stewardsofgondor" is still alive in spirit. We respect what @fulltimegeek taught us and that his efforts are not in vain.

One other thing I forgot to mention, some steemians have also delegated SP to the account for free just to show their support. Most minnows don't have that ability so they usually donate either sbds or steem or just upvote the posts. But some of the larger steemians delegate some of their SP to help the account cast a more meaningful vote.

This is the end of the 10th week and we have now reached 4000 SP from nothing, so it really is an amazing compliment to see how much people want to show the support to the stewards and fulltimegeek himself.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask... I am happy to answer anything! :)

Wow Dave, this might be the most incredible response I've ever received on this platform. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the history... I really appreciate it. This platform is great, but it is often hard to find out the background of things...

Looks like I've stumbled across an amazingly caring and supportive group started by an incredibly supportive geek. Very impressed by what you've all managed to achieve, especially in the face of so much selfish behaviour on the platform.

Unfortunately I'm way too small to contribute in any meaningful way, but please know that I'm incredibly excited to find such an honest and hardworking group on the blockchain. It's easy to read a lot of negativity and this has filled this newbie with a whole lot of hope.

Thanks again!

Thank you for that compliment... I just wanted to give you the respect that you deserved by asking such a thoughtful quesiton... I'm happy also for you to learn what @fulltimegeek has done and why hopefully many more people will follow his lead in the future. To me it is very inspirational and one of the big reasons why I have hope for this place (despite some gaping negatives too)... And don't worry whether you are small or big, just paying attention and helping however you can in the ways that suit you the best is great. That is how we network and build a strong community, so its nice to meet you @daclawboyz! :)

Good to see things are still going good for F.O.G, I had to put periods between the letters I did not want to feel as if i was getting foggy brained. But it is a pretty cool acromine.

Shrouded by a mysterious fog, fulltimegeek and his army of SOG soldiers, set off to thwart the desires of revenge from the army of donkeys.

lol... yes I see it all the time in my file names... I call it fog myself :P ... and that would make a great beginning of a book @bashadow, you have a start so now you should keep writing and see where you can take it!

I may try one day, but I have an extra psot to do tonight so the Book signing will have to wait. I just got my 1000th follower not to long ago, and made my 7000th post/comment oh about 3 minutes ago, so I need to do a milestone post soon., if I ever get caught up on comments again.

awesome on both the followers and on the number of posts/comments... great job as always @bashadow!

I don't look at numbers to often, but wow o wow on yours. almost 7000 followers, and almost 8000 comments in less than 6 months. That is the Awesome. Careful of burn-out. I don't know how you and lynn and glen do it, all over everywhere, simply fricken amazing. I am definitely a hack compared to you three, and I am glad I do not feel as if I am competing with you guys either, just get to tag along and have fun.You have a great day, oh also if you have never seen a picture of two eagles tied up in flight fighting over a meal, my wife @shasta got an awesome shot of a pair, It looks like only one eagle but count the wings, open and zoom in, it is a fantastic shot, and I am not just saying that because she is my wife. I even resteemed it.

Awesome I am going to check that out right now! And thanks for the compliment and yes I am trying to find balance too... But you are not even close to a hack, you are far from that! Don't forget you are the first (along with @beeyou) to be a Newbie Steward and they don't give those things out very easily ;)

Have a great day @bashadow! I'm going to check out that pic right now :)

Full vote in support!! Keep rocking it!

Thank you @old-guy-photos! I always like to see your icon... :)

I made a donation of 3 spd but no mention?
I give up

ok I figured it out @four20... You sent the money directly to @fulltimegeek... He gets donations for many things, and probably didn't know what this was for... I will make a comment next week and make a mention of it to you. After all you are helping the man that is leading it all and that is a great thing to do! Here is a copy of where you sent it in your wallet so that you know I didn't ignore you.

And I thank you and I'm sure @fulltimegeek would thank you if he noticed it too! He has many things going on, so he probably doesn't check his wallet like me and you would ;)...

Good job and thank you for bringing this to my attention so I can clarify it and get you the proper attribution! :)

Now that is some detective work right there! XD

Thank you @davemccoy
When I read the thing I thought it said to donate to @fulltimegeek which is what I did.
I feel like I am crashing into walls and falling down stairs here.
I appreciate your help!

lol... no worries... I am just glad we could clear it up for you! :)

ps... and if you feel that you need answers to things, feel free to always contact me. If I can find you an answer, I will always be happy to do so... There is a lot to learn and sometimes the people that simply ask learn the fastest! ;)

I might have missed it @four20... Let me go look... I will be right back to you and if I overlooked you, I promise I will give you a special mention and an apology next week. It wasn't intentional, that is for sure.

Thanks, 3 spd was 3/4 of all I had, and earning more takes forever. Inching along little by little.

Well here you go, I will give you a full upvote... Its not going to dramatically change your path, but it will show you that good deeds do get rewarded over time! ;)

Thank you @davemccoy that is very kind of you. It's not easy not knowing anyone on the platform, and my family and few friends who I tried to come on here had such a difficult time signing up that they said it was too much trouble.
I suppose if I had more time to spend behind the computer screen I could spend more time figuring out the bot thing and discord etc. Simply not enough hours in the day. Like right now, I have 2 orders I need to make to ship tomorrow and I have to figure out what is wrong with my clients water softener. I tried to get her to call a real repair man, she did but it was almost as expensive as replacing the unit, so like most things it landed back in my lap. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out how to fix things, but sometimes it wears on you.
So in the future where do I donate to project ?
thanks again for the vote.

I completely understand and again, you can always ask me... I won't always give you a quick answer, but I will do my best to get you the right information... And I have been where you are when I first started too, it took me awhile but I have now made plenty of friends to figure this whole place out. One of the most cool things about this place is that once I know something, then you can know it too... Information spreads very fast.

And first, build up your money so that you can get strong enough to start rewarding others... So don't go giving away your next 3 sbds out of 4... You could send a nice message of support or a simple resteem to your followers, and that would be enough. We have been there and understand... And the funny thing is we all want you to grow too.... That's how you grow, with your friends and followers.

But once you get to 100 sp and want to donate a SBD again, then you would donate that to @friendsofgondor if you want it going to support this project. If you want to just support @fulltimegeek directly (which is cool too, since he does some awesome things for the community), then you can send it to him like you did on the other donation!

Have a great day and feel free to contact me anytime for help to any of your questions :)

Where did you make the donation, I looked in the wallet of the account and I don't see it...

https://steemit.com/@friendsofgondor/transfers

I will run it down, so don't give up... Just tell me where you sent it and I will find it and publicly apologize!

Hello! I first saw your project. I like the idea and the concept of which you stick. This initiative deserves attention. Immediately I did not understand what the essence of the stewards was and what they were doing. But in the comments you wrote about it in detail.
The question is, is there a chance to join this? What do you need to do for this?

Hi @frank1in, thank you for the comment and nice words... As far as joining this, it will be entirely up to @fulltimegeek if he decides to add new stewards again. My guess is he learned a lot from his experience and will probably do something similar at some point, but I have never spoken to him about it so it is truly a guess. I know that people learn and adapt, plus I'm sure that he has other objectives he would also like to achieve as well. As far as how people joined it in the first place, I wasn't around, but my understanding is that he observed people and found those that he felt carried out his values and ideas. So I think the best thing to do would be to follow him, and get to know him and see if you have things in common with him! He's a really good guy and while he's busy he also manages to check in and find out what is going on!
