The marvel of Peru or four o'clock flower, is the most commonly grown ornamental species of Mirabilis plant which is available in a range of colors belonging to the family of Nyctaginaceae. Mirabilis in Latin means wonderful & Jalapa (or Xalapa) is the state capital of Veracruz in México.
Mirabilis jalapa was cultivated by the Aztecs for medicinal & ornamental purposes.
It's known for its vibrant, fragrant flowers that bloom in the late afternoon. Medicinally, it has been traditionally used to treat various ailments, and scientific research supports its potential as an anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and antioxidant agent. Additionally, the flowers can be used to create a natural food coloring.
