SC-S29/W6 – Nostalgia Of The Little Me: A Childhood Story That Taught You Something
What is the childhood incident or story you want to share?
Every person has some memorable events from their childhood. I am just like anyone else, who has carried many events from childhood to reach this stage of life. I want to share one incident from my childhood with you. In my childhood, I was very good at playing football. There was a competition in our area where children were divided into two groups to play football against each other.
At that time, I wasn't a great player overall, but I was very good as a goalkeeper. Although I don’t like playing football now, back then I loved the game and was an excellent goalkeeper. I remember very clearly that because of me, we managed to win by saving goals. I don’t know exactly what actions I took during that match, but I do remember that we won because of me.
How old were you, and what exactly happened in that moment?
To answer this question, I shortened the answer to the first question and did not answer it fully because I didn’t want to repeat myself while answering the rest of the questions. At that time, I was around 9 to 10 years old. I was studying in school, maybe in class one or three. I used to play then, and I never really thought about myself; playing was the most important thing to me.
From the start to the end, the game lasted about an hour. I was the goalkeeper alone for the entire game. And I know how many balls I saved and blocked, but I don’t remember the exact number. After the match, many people were happy with me and celebrated, and those who organized the game, meaning our elder brothers, were very happy with me. It was a very memorable day for me.
What emotions did you feel during and after the incident?
At that time, I didn't really understand what emotions were, but I could understand this much: if I couldn't fulfill my responsibilities properly, my older brothers might get hurt, and they might scold me a little. This was normal because I was a small kid and it was natural for my older brothers to scold me. So, I was a little bit scared, and with all my effort, I tried my best to play sports.
However, after playing, I felt so much joy that this moment became a happy and memorable time for me. After the game, everyone picked me up and carried me in their arms, and everyone danced with me, which is why it is memorable for me. Because of this, I was overwhelmed with emotion, and I feel that when you give people something beautiful, it makes them happy.
What lesson or realization did you learn from this experience?
People always seek benefits, and no one loves anyone without purpose. I may not have understood this game back then, but now I realize that if I couldn’t show them something good, then maybe they wouldn’t have been so happy or affectionate towards me at that time. In fact, without matching words with actions, it is impossible to receive love; just speaking words is not enough.
Instead, you have to show through actions that you can, and I will bring you victory, and only after bringing victory will they love me and value me. From this, one can expect that this is the lesson: I will show my boss with actions, not words, and they will give me valuable gifts. No one will feed you for free or give you money just like that; you must show it through your actions.
How has this lesson influenced your life until today?
Today, I am currently a teacher at a private institution. To teach at a private institution, one must definitely put themselves in a competitive environment, and this has made me feel the influence of childhood competitions in every aspect. At the same time, our institution encourages our interest in sports and organizes many competitions for sports.
Although I do not play football currently, I am most interested in cricket and I do play sports. I have been at this institution for almost five years; if I hadn't shown them my abilities, they definitely wouldn't have kept me here. It is because I have done well in competitions that I have been retained here. Additionally, those who read my diary might know that I recently won a cricket competition and received a prize.
And this has influenced me to realize that whatever we do, if there is no victory, no one will value you highly. Therefore, as long as we live, we must compete at every moment. Without competition, my life, our life, will never advance.

Greetings,
Thank you so much for participating in the contest.
