SC-S29/W3- Nostalgia Of The Little Me : Childhood Food Memories
Assalamu Alaikum,
Hello everyone,
I am @selina1
From #Bangladesh
I'm starting by wishing all my Steemit friends good health. Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, I am doing very well. I will be participating in a great engagement challenge today. So let's get started.
Which childhood food or meal do you still remember clearly, and why is it special to you?
I think everyone has a great childhood. As I said before, I grew up in a village and my childhood was very happy. However, my favorite food since childhood is Khichuri. When I learned to understand that I was studying in school and our school's weekly holiday was Friday. On Friday afternoon, my friends of the same age would cook and eat "Julapati" Khichuri. "Julapati" is a regional language and it is cooked and eaten by young children together like a picnic.
I ate my favorite khichuri picnic.
This food and this time were very wonderful for me. Besides, whenever it rained, I used to beg my mother to eat khichuri. My childhood favorite food is never forgotten. Now I have grown up a lot, but when I go home, I still eat khichuri from my mother's hand. My cousins and I organize the childhood game of "Julapati" together, that is, we cook khichuri on picnics and eat it in the village style. Whenever we have "Julapati" or picnics, we try to eat khichuri on banana leaves. This tradition gives us a different pleasure.

Who usually made this food for you and how did you feel at that time?
Since childhood, my favorite food is khichuri, so I have eaten this food mostly from my mother. I think that mother is the best cook in the world. No matter how my mother cooks khichuri, I can eat it to my heart's content. I still remember that on Fridays, my father would actually buy meat from the market and in the afternoon, I would walk behind my mother holding a cloth and begging her to cook khichuri. My mother would then leave her work and cook khichuri for me, even though not everyone likes to eat khichuri that much like me.

There is nothing like a mother in the world, only a mother can be asked to eat. Nowadays, there are different types of spices that enhance the taste of khichuri, but even if you cook khichuri with all the ingredients, it does not taste like the khichuri made by my mother. So, childhood memories are like a completely different kind of food and this feeling of my mother fulfilling it cannot be erased from my mind even if I want to.
When and where did you usually eat it (home, school, village, special occasions)?
As I said earlier, on rainy days or holidays, I used to make a promise to my mother to eat khichuri more and she would fulfill it. However, sometimes my mother would cook my favorite khichuri in the school tiffin which I liked very much and sometimes I shared this food with my classmates. Also, in our village, there were various social events where khichuri was cooked and fed to everyone and I would be present there and eat the food happily.

When all the cousins would get together at home, I would make this food at picnics and still sometimes I make this food at family picnics. This food is easy to cook and very tasty to eat. So a few days ago, many of us cooked khichuri together and ate it with bananas at a picnic, which was amazing.
What feelings come back when you think of taste, smell or moment?
When you think of taste, smell or moment, it reminds me of the feeling when I used to eat khichuri especially in my mother's hands. Because now my mother is old and suffering from various diseases, she cannot walk or work like before. So now I don't beg her mother to eat Khichuri cooked by her. In fact, I feel that the moments spent in my childhood were the best in real life. I eat my favorite food in different ways in different places but I don't get to taste the food prepared by my mother anymore.
Is this food still a part of your life, or is it just a memory?
This is a great question for me because this food is really my favorite food. Currently, not only my father's house, but also my in-laws' house know that I love eating Khichuri. So if someone invites me personally, they try to cook Khichuri for me. It is a great pleasure for me. I will never get back those times of eating my favorite food, Khichuri, from my mother's hands and eating "Julapati" as a child, which remain as memories for me. Like every person, I give priority to my favorite food. That is why I try to cook and eat my favorite food, Khichuri, on a special time or day.

Greetings,
Thank you so much for participating in the contest.
Khichuri is my favorite too. You have presented your childhood memories around this food, village life, rainy days, and the tradition of Julapati very nicely. It really feels like your childhood was very sweet. The moments of cooking and eating together on banana leaves with friends and cousins truly bring back childhood memories.
You have clearly expressed your love for your mother’s khichuri, showing how special this food is to you. The photos match the writing well, and the feeling of nostalgia is strongly present throughout the post. However, adding small captions under the photos would have made it even better.
