A moment that defines your school life

The moment that defines my school life was the moment my school had a traditional custom day in my school. The experience was a beautiful experience which I wouldn't never forget and it is an experience that I keep remembering every day of my life.

The reason why I wouldn't forget such a day is that I learnt about the culture and history of my Mada tribe. I didn't grow up in my motherland but when I got to school, it was the culture of my mother that I practiced in school and such an experience is still in me.

Describe how you felt as a student

As a student, I felt happy but each time I enter school environment I was always sad because of how the senior prefect used to act.

At some point, I would feel sad about myself when I see a fellow student like me coming to school with her parents whereas it was just me myself in school. I didn't feel happy because it was just me in school for some years before I met some good friends.

A friend or teacher who mattered to you

In my school, I had many people around me whom I thought were all my friends until something happened that I then knew they were just around me for their own benefits.

Favour is my friend even to this day. She is someone who stood by me, both in hard times and good times when I was in school. She was also my mentor and she was the only one who took me as her own blood sister. She inspired me to be a great person in life.

A mistake or a lesson from school life

I made a mistake as a student by jumping the school fence with other students who were close to me. We were caught as we jumped the school fence and so we were punished in public at the school assembly ground. After the ugly incident, I learnt about humility, and transparency by knowing that there are no shortcuts to anything in life.

Reflect on how those school days shaped who you are now (How your school days influenced your dreams, personality, or the values you still carry with you in life.)

My school days influenced my dreams, and the value that I carry today.

  • My school taught me about discipline and today I am a disciplined person.

  • My school taught me about multitask which today I can be able to multitask myself on different tasks.

  • My school taught me how to read and write, and today I am so fluent in speaking good English.

Greetings,

Thank you so much for participating in the contest.

The memory of Traditional Custom Day was one of your school memories. Through it, you have highlighted the experience of learning about your roots, culture and mother's tribe by going to school.

Your feelings of loneliness as a student and the pain caused by the behavior of the senior prefect will touch the hearts of the readers. The scene of coming to school by yourself without your parents is similar to many of our childhoods.

You have sincerely expressed the importance of a friend who is there for you in difficult times, which is an expression of your love for your friends to us.

Although the part about the education and regret gained through the incident of jumping the school fence is a bit short, it was an important life lesson. The mentality of learning from mistakes shows your mature thinking.
