Flashback from four years ago.

Ok, before I continue I must warn you, this is indeed a typical boy-meets-girl story.

Now that you know exactly what you’re getting into, let me proceed.

Girl meets boy. Let’s call them April and Jay.

Jay’s interest was piqued, April seemed smart and witty. She’s quite easy on the eyes, too.

April’s interest was piqued, though she didn’t immediately let it show. Jay seemed smart, but is kind of a show-off. Still, she was a charmed kid.

They talked. April felt that she’s seeing Jay for what he truly is- a kind and sensitive man. They clicked, two peas in a pod. April admires how goal-driven Jay is. She loves how strong his filial relationship is. April weeps for the beatings Jay’s heart took in the past.

Their connection felt strong and real.

April’s friends knew Jay longer, and she was warned. He’s a player, they said. Stay away, they said.

April, scared and confused, distanced herself.

April met another guy, Harold. This one ticks all the bullets in her checklist. April’s heart was happy.

A few months passed. Jay resurfaced. He told April that he hasn’t stopped thinking about her.

Jay said he loved her.

April was lost. If her heart is happy, then why the confusion? After all, she knows Jay was bad news. They talked for three exciting days.

April’s heart was happy.

But then, she is reminded of the warnings.

April’s heart was happy with Harold, too. It wasn’t the whirlwind kind of happy, more of like a serene stream.

So again, she chose the steady stream over the exciting whirlwind.

Jay went away and April didn’t hear back from him again.

Life continued to happen for both.

As it happens, April and Harold didn’t work out. April met other men. She got into one serious, whirlwind-feel type of romance. This one also didn’t last.

Months passed. A year passed. April hasn’t felt any interest with guys. She knows it’s unnatural, and she wants to push herself to move forward.

April thought of Jay.

As if the universe heard her whisper, Jay got in touch with April.

Day 1. How are you’s. These things in my life changed. These are the plans I have.

Day 2. We’re really so similar. You’re still the same person I remember.

I still love you.

Day 3. Happiness.

Then, from nowhere, a sudden drop.

Jay went away again and April is clueless as to why.

Did I do something wrong? Is there anything I could have done better? Are my friends right after all and she’d been played?

3 days from 4 years ago. Girl hurt boy.
3 days. Boy hurt girl.

Poetic justice.

One upside though is that April now knows that she can still be interested in a guy, the butterflies in her stomach are still alive, just resting, waiting for the right guy to make her feel things again.

Hopeful, April waits for the next Chapter.

Some part of her still wishes the rest of the chapters include Jay.
