"I have decided to take up Humanities after my Board exams," said Adrija, when she finally got her Class-IX results.
"Are you serious, Adri?" asked her elder brother, Adrian.
"Yes, why? You got a problem, Bro."

"No, not at all. But don't you think it will be a bit odd if you take up Humanities? I mean, your big brother is a medical student and our dad is a chemistry professor. Plus, Mom is a biology teacher. What will others say?"

"Why should I care about what others think? And even if our whole family studies Science, I want to break this tradition. I am going to work hard so that I can score good marks in every subject – be it in any stream."
"That's my girl!" said her father, who was standing near the door and smiling.
Adri was delighted. “Thank you so much, Dad."

"So Adri, since you are going to take up Humanities, do you have any idea what scope it offers?" Adrian asked. Adrija stared at her father's face, confused. Adrija's father smiled, "Don't worry, dear, I will help you. The Humanities and Commerce streams offer a lot of scope to students. It is necessary that after your H.S. final, you need to take a Bachelor's degree. Then comes the main part – what will you do after your degree? You need to show that a Humanities student too can be successful. After your B.A., you can opt for I.C.S., I.P.S., I.A.S., M.B.A., or even an M.A., if you like. But I do hope you go into the administration line. I would like you to gain so much power that no one can ever point a finger at you. But, of course, you should never misuse your powers."

"I won't," said Adri fervently. "And, I'll never let you down, Dad. Whatever I end up doing in life, I promise, I shall always make you proud!"
