CHAPTER 1. End of the Beginning.

His heart paced faster than ever as he ran..." I have to get to the station" he kept telling himself.. The sound of the mob behind him grew closer and closer.. never ever had he had he need to run for his life, as he takes a turn around the corner he bumps into a young lady , knocking her down as he ran past... he normally would turn back and apologize but nothing about his life today was normal... his heart seemed ready to burst the next minute but he could feel the mob catch up...
"not yet..a few more blocks now and this nightmare will be over... hang in there"... but his legs strained and he knew he'd run out off steam, and with the impact of a truck on small car, a heavily built man slammed into him knocking him down and any wind left in him out. He could have passed out from the impact but the rain of punches that soon followed made sure the senses kept up, then came the clubs... so swift were the blows to his body that he did not have time to feel the last one before the next landed...
"stop please" he cried, "i'm innocent"... but his screams were muffed by the even louder voices of the mob as they took turns punching and kicking him.. and then everything seemed to freeze as he sees Richard stand amongst the small crowd gathered around, club in hand looking at him.
"you my brother, my friend, even you would seek my blood?" he thought.. but the impact of a club smashing into his skull soon ended all the pains.. and then there was just darkness.. "goodbye cruel world" for as the blood gushed out his open skull so went his life out off him...

But this was not an end befitting a mind like Desmond's, no. Sitting on his desk back in his room next to some merit award plaques are three invitation letters from big Pharmaceutical companies, he has already decided he will go with The Big Green Corp.
Top of his class, in his graduating year, majoring in Bioinformatics, Des as he was fondly called had a big plan ahead but unfortunately didn't plan for these last few minutes and neither did Richard.
