Collect widows in the Inong Balee war army. Hit the Dutch and the Portuguese. Remembered as the world's 10 biggest warlords.

The woman stood dashing. Leading thousands of troops off the deck. Hundreds of ships that followed him made the narrow Strait of Malacca increasingly crowded.

His voice was loud. Calling in the roar of a war cannon. Pushing the spirit of the soldiers. Struggling to uphold the sovereignty of the victorious country.

He is the Keumala Hayati. The warlord of the Sultanate of Aceh. A mighty woman who is highly respected in her day. Great fleets of Portuguese and Dutch caliber were made to their knees.

The British Empire also began to wriggle as an empire at that time made jeri. Choosing a peace than melakoni war against women who is also known by the name of this Malahayati.

Keumala Hayati is amazing. Despite the women, he is believed to lead thousands of marine troops. A task that can only be done by men at that time. And the world records it as the first admiral in the modern voyages of the sea.

In the body of Keumala Hayati is indeed blood flow fighters. His father was Admiral Mahmud Shah, Commander of the Kingdom of Aceh. His grandfather, Muhammad Said Shah, was also a prominent admiral.

His great-grandfather, Sultan Salahuddin Syah, was the leader of Aceh in 1530-1539. Sultan Salahuddin is the son of Sultan Ibrahim Ali Mughayat Syah, the founder of the kingdom of Aceh Darussalam ruling from 1513 to 1530.

The circle was also made Keumala Hayati since childhood had kariaw with the sea. So, after the pesantren, he took a naval education. To study at the military academy of the Kingdom of Aceh, Ma'had Baitul Makdis. The famous military academy built on the support of Sultan Selim II, the Ottoman Turki ruler.

Keumala Hayati provided a brilliant. Thus, he did not have the awkward ability to compete with the men in the naval academy. He even grows up as a brilliant warrior. The soul of the leader that he has is increasingly honed.

Because it is also a lot of male cadets who want to marry the girl who was in bloom. And the heart of Keumala Hayati is tied to a handsome class sister. They are then married.

Graduated from the academy, Keumala Hayati was appointed Commander of the Protocol of the Darud-World Palace of the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam. The husband didaulat be admiral.

But unfortunately, marriage is still the age of corn had to end. The husband died in the task. The admiral was killed while fighting against the Portuguese at Haru Bay aka the Strait of Malacca.

As an ordinary man, the death of the husband makes the Keumala Hayati hit. But he did not drag on in sadness. After the death of his husband, his spirit burned.

Keumala Hayati appealed to Sultan al-Mukammil, King of Aceh who ruled from 1596-1604, to form a war fleet. The soldiers are widows of Acehnese warriors who died in the fighting in the Malacca Strait.

Tit for tat. The Sultan agreed. At that time, the Sultanate of Aceh was indeed increasing security due to Portuguese interference. Since the defeat of the Portuguese Sultanate of Melaka in 1511, the Sultanate of Aceh became the enemy's biggest enemy of Europe.

Keumala Hayati then took the initiative to form Armada Inong Balee or Female Widower Fleet. Its members are widows of soldiers killed in the Battle of the Strait of Melaka. He became commander of troops based in Lamreh Kraung Raya Bay. The 3-meter-high Kuto Inong Balee Fortress was built. Equipped with a cannon. The remains of the fortress are now still visible in Aceh.

Not only arrange defense on land. The Inong Balee army has more than one hundred warships. The army, which was originally only a thousand, grew to a maximum of two thousand. From this unit Keumala Hayati is believed to be the Admiral of the Aceh Sultanate.

John Davies, the captain of the British who worked for the Dutch ship noted that Aceh was currently intensifying the voyage in the Malacca Strait. Aceh spread a hundred large warships with a crew of 400 to 500 male soldiers.

One of the commander of the Aceh warship was Admiral Keumala Hayati. According to that note, Keumala Hayati is not only dashing on the ship. He was a mighty battle with his men in the Malacca Strait. One of the best known battles was the sinking of six Portuguese ships in the Strait of Malacca.

Keumala Hayati also performed brilliantly against the Dutch expedition forces. Dutch troops who had just fought against the Sultanate of Banten arrived in Aceh. It was June 21, 1599. the entourage led by Cornelis and Frederick de Houtman was welcomed. But the foreign fleet was even acting brash. They invaded the port of Aceh.

The Aceh army fought back. Laskar Keumala Hayati became the front shield. They are very tough. This battle happened for weeks. Finally the Dutch fleet successfully ironed. Even on Sept. 11, Cornelis de Houtman was killed at Malahayati's hand. Meanwhile, Frederick de Houtman was held captive for two years.

The intention to colonize Aceh made the Dutch not deterrent. They again sent troops on 21 November 1600. This time under the command of Paul van Caerden. When they arrived in Aceh, they attacked blindly. The ships full of spice loads were looted. The ships on the Aceh coast were also drowned.

In June the following year, Keumala Hayati captured the Dutch Admiral Jacob van Neck, who was sailing on the coast of Aceh. After various incidents, the Netherlands sent a diplomatic letter and apologized to the Aceh Sultanate through the envoy Maurits van Oranjesent.

Keumala Hayati was appointed as the leader of the Aceh delegation for negotiations with the Dutch. This is where another Keumala Biological skill is seen. Not only fierce in war palagan, he seems also shrewdly diplomatic. Become a master negotiator.

The talks took place in August 1601. Keumala Hayati led Aceh, the Netherlands represented by Maurits van Oranjesent, Admiral Laurens Bicker, and Gerard de Roy. In the negotiations it was agreed a ceasefire between the Netherlands and Aceh. The Dutch were also willing to pay 50 thousand guilders as van Caerden's invasion compensation.

Keumala Hayati lunge finally reached the ears of Queen Elizabeth, the British ruler. So they chose a peaceful way to cross the Strait of Malacca. In June 1602, Queen Elizabeth sent a letter to the Sultan of Aceh through James Lancaster to open a shipping lane to Java. Since the negotiations with Keumala Hayati were successful, Queen Elizabeth awarded the Knighthood title to Lancaster.

Keumala Hayati is said to still lead the Aceh forces against the Portuguese fleet under Alfonso de Castro which invaded Kreung Raya Aceh in June 1606. A number of historical sources say he was killed in the battle and buried on the slopes of Bukit Kota Dalam, a fishing village located 34 kilometers from Banda Aceh.

Malahayati, nicknamed Keumala Hayati, is legendary. The title of the hero was pinned. One of the TNI Angakatan Laut warships even bears its name. But unfortunately, very little literature about this figure as big as Keumala Hayati. So it is not known exactly when the year of birth and death.

What is clear, the name Keumala Hayati fragrant until the corners of the world. The National Hero is often referred to as one of the 10 Best Woman Warriors, and one of the Seven Woman of the World in History.
