Half Dead Asleep

Have you ever tried lying down with your eyes open and you can hardly breathe? Like you want to get up and free yourself from a tight grip?

I saw my life right before my eyes.

It was dark and cold. I found myself crying out for help. I was screaming with the littlest air in my chest. It felt like drowning. I was drowning in the sea of wilderness having no one to lean on but myself. I was running in the middle of the woods. Someone’s chasing after me. I was running as fast as I could but I was going nowhere. I was going not farther than my point of origin. I was dripping with sweat. I felt the tears as they started to pour.

I then slapped myself. I was amazed how that slap awoken my senses. Right then, I saw my body, half dead on my tiny bed. I saw my body lying down while my soul floats. I tried so hard to merge my little soul to my body but I failed to no avail.

Monsters underneath the bed started to grow bigger and bigger. I started hearing cries, howls and growls. It was too loud.

I tried to reach for the door of my room. The door was about 10 steps away from my bed. The knobs won’t even move. Out of effort, I unknowingly found myself back on the bed with my soul trapped on my semi-lifeless body.

I prayed for a miracle. I woke up from a bad dream.

I never thought sleep paralysis could be real. I never believed until it finally came to me.

What could’ve been worse than it?

Sleep paralysis is actually a state between wakefulness and sleep. It is often linked to psychological problems. It may be a product of dreadful tired body or product of anxiety.

I once talked to an old friend who had experienced the same. No scientific proof yet but curling your toes while experiencing such would help you get back from your senses.

One mistake I did when I was paralyzed from my sleep was that I tried to fight against it. Don’t. Just don’t! Fighting won’t really help. It would only make you run out of your breath. You’ll lose all your energy. The same energy is lost when you do a 3-lapse jog. Surrender and focus on the goal which Is to awake yourself. Keep yourself calm while doing the inhale-exhale routine.

No reports of death for sleep paralysis just yet. However, being able to experience it made me convince myself that I should share awareness.
