We Must Become as Little Children...

Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven."

- Jesus Christ (Matthew 18:3)

Hello fellow steemians, a very happy Sunday to you and especially, a MERRY CHILDREN'S DAY celebration to every child; me, you, we, all of us!😊

Yes, I call us all children because we all are offsprings of different couples dispersed upon the surface of the earth but more importantly, we are children of the great I AM!

Today reminds me of many years ago; where it all began; the experiences; the joys and the woes!

In the late tides of the day, when the sun had opt for recesses, we sat faced down on the hard crumbs from the ground... With lower limbs opened wide, I began to recount, how far we've come, it was amazing...

"I feel like I should just become a child once again!" Eucharia said. "But you're still a child, someone else's child I added..."

And placing her left palm on her left chin, she lamented, "But then, things have changed..."

"How?" I asked...

And like she's been holding a hurt for a long while, she questioned in deep dismay, "Where are the good old days!?"

"Can we go back to those times when we love the puddles and ran in them regardless the colour, the smell, the depth and length?" She continued,

"Those times when Lightening reflections were like snap shots of God and thunder sounds like the cry of angels, we just were too creative to have thought that way...."

"Those days when spilled meals were much delicious and the experience like adventures because the last seed of rice or beans must be found and eaten before the "devil" does!"

"The good old days when the rain and the storm seemed like the best times to play, work, show our skills, gifts and do the things we love..."

"When scars were celebrated because they were proofs of progress in the learning process (e.g. learning to ride the bicycle)"

"The times when we felt everything was possible, like we just could spread out our hands and fly like the Superman we just saw on TV."

"When we all wanted to be in charge of the show, and act as the BOSS in every play, and the ladies always the woman in charge (mother of the bad guy), who was eager, praying and crying for her son to change!... we just knew how to get all we wanted and it was always nothing less than the BEST..."

Nothing was impossible....

"When we knew nothing about worry, hatred, envy, segregation and the likes, everyone was just as equal on the play ground..."

"When wealth was nothing... When race or skin colour had no special hype... When we all bonded as ONE that we were and are!"

"When relationships were treated with utmost sincerity and passion, burdens were borne by all" (you dare not beat a child in the presence of his friends):

"When we pledge our allegiance to friendship in the neighbourhood, saying affirmative words like:"

"We dey your back!"
"Na we get am!"
"No shaking!"

"And we meant every single word, trust me!"

So she counselled:

"Let's reflect on the good old days and garner the joys, positivity, acceptability, creativity and enthusiasm we have once had, for posterity... Our world needs them MORE, NOW than ever!"

"We must become as little children to make our world great again!"

So I resolved to Think on these words!
Happy Children's Day
