I like this kind of fictionalized story.

The pirate ship is a nice touch.

Ile Bourbon was renamed during the French revolution and is now called "Ile de la Réunion".

These "extraordinary tribulations" were those of Guillaume Le Gentil (not Guillame la Gentil).
