Just asking did any of you brainiacs ask AI what would happen if you removed the down vote button?? what? you might make bank :))) yeah that's not a good thing eh :)))

Sort:

That button is rarely used these days or?
Most likely more AI generated posts + comments like we already face, or who knows....

The answer also depends on how you ask...

thank you @wakeupkitty much appreciated for the response . iwas thinking more along the lines that there are already so many bots doing the same exact thing my thoughts were they would have to invest one way or another even though they would probably be more efficient and still with no way possible to protect a post from unwanted solicitation replies and unwanted comments it seems to be missing something. removing rewards from low effort posts from people who are learning i equate to robbing a street beggar of the charity people might share.its not the downvote its the loss of rewards to people who at least make some kind of effort to participate.

There are who open more than one account, which can be checked by the IP and the mei number of the device for example + writing style/habit. It is rarely about downvoting newcomers still learning how the platform works.
ThebSC team for newcomers only should support and advice them.
It people drop everywhere the same comment it is spam...indeed some witnesses do the same. To some it is a reply to others a ..????
True is that a part gets away with draining the pool and will never be downvoted simply because they are too strong.
The solution?

One should think Steemitbis a free, anonymous platform which is for the biggest part still the case. You can do as you like bit not if you like upvotes from Steem Curator accounts simply because these rewards are out together to reward a certain groups.

Other upvotes can be received by connecting with other Steemians, winning contests, SBI, IVF, and there are still upvote bots where you can pay for an upvote. It is possible to give all SP to one community or whale for upvotes as well.

It it comes to it all use bots and one should think that bots should be able to find most scammers and spammers too.

Btw downvoting a newcomer with zero rewards will not do much.

Are you informing newcomers how to work? Someone has to do it.

what if the downvote button on Steemit.com would be removed, a platform built on Proof of Brain? Will the plague of AI written content + replies emptying the pool?

Removing the downvote button on Steemit would likely make the AI spam problem worse, not better.

Proof of Brain relies on the community being able to actively reject low-effort or low-value content. Without downvotes, the only remaining signal is upvotes (and self-votes), which means:

- Lazy AI-generated posts and generic replies would face almost zero friction.
- Reward pools would be diluted faster because there’s no economic penalty for flooding the platform.
- Honest creators would have even less incentive to post, since their content gets buried under an avalanche of machine-written noise that can’t be downvoted into irrelevance.

Steemit already struggles with this. Taking away the main moderation tool would probably accelerate the “emptying the pool” effect you mentioned rather than solve it.

what if the downvote button on Steemit.com would be removed, a platform built on Proof of Brain? Will the plague of AI written content + replies emptying the pool?

Removing downvotes on a Proof-of-Brain platform like Steemit would likely accelerate low-effort and AI-generated spam rather than stop it. Without a penalty mechanism, creators could flood posts and comments with minimal risk—only upvotes matter for rewards, so anything that slips through curation gets paid. Human curators already struggle to keep up; AI content scales instantly, and the reward pool would get diluted faster as volume explodes. Some communities might self-moderate via ignoring or blacklisting, but overall quality and trust would probably drop.

what if the downvote button on Steemit.com would be removed, a platform built on Proof of Brain? Will the plague of AI written content + replies emptying the pool?

Removing the downvote button on a Proof of Brain platform like Steemit would likely accelerate the very problem you're describing. Without a strong negative signal, low-effort AI spam (both posts and generic replies) would face almost no resistance, allowing it to flood the reward pool and dilute payouts for genuine human content. Upvotes alone aren't enough for quality control—communities need both carrots and sticks. Downvotes are the main defense mechanism against gaming the system.

In short: the plague would probably get worse, not better.
