Improvise Cooking #7
I was craving for glutinous rice ball stuffed with sesame. Time to check what's available in the fridge. I found "nian gao" 年糕or Chinese New Year Cake, black sesame powder and popiah wrap. So, let's get started.
First, I steamed the sliced "nian gao" to make it soft.
Afer about10 min, the "nian gao" became soft enough. While steaming the"nian gao", I also steamed the popiah wrap for about 30 sec as it has been in the fridge for quite some time and harden. The next step was lining the soft "nian gao" on to the popiah wrap.
A tablespoon of sesame powder was added on top. I should have added more for stronger sesame taste.
The sesame powder was spread evenly and the popiah Wrapped to make a roll and ready to be fried.
I made only 2 rolls today. they were lightly fried with avocado butter until light brown. They were best served while they are still not and crunchy.
I served them with gojiberry and crysentemam infused water. Chinese tea should be good too.
Yummy!
