@teardrops @surpassinggoogle : Trials make us stronger
I was once a victim of those annoying flying pest, lurking and looking for a perfect timing to pierce their blood sucking thing on my skin. It transmitted a debilitating viral disease on me that made me suffer in fever for days. The throbbing pain in my head, the soreness of my tonsils, my drowsiness that made my legs numb and other traces of pain all over my body made my eyes watery and produced some damn @tears, yeah I really cried out of agony. This normally happens to me when I'm ill, so, we thought that it was just a typical fever visiting me but as soon as I was having an intermittent one, my mom made a decision to consult me to a physician and to also to run me a blood test.
As we were approaching to the laboratory to have my CBC (complete blood count), anxiety took over me 'cause CBC was really a scary thing for me. I mean don't get me wrong, I ain't afraid of needles pricking in my skin but to the thought of there maybe something wrong with my blood again really scared me a lot.
I was really nervous waiting for the result cause the decision whether I am going to be admitted in the hospital or not was written on that piece of paper. When the nurse came to see us and told us the result, my mom produced a lot of @tears in her eyes for my platelet count was below normal which was 97 whereas the normal platelet count is 150. It was a dengue fever after all. They admitted me to the hospital and put me under observation. If my platelet count is not going to reach the normal count after 3 CBC tests, I would be referred to the provincial hospital which is miles away from home and also needs a high financial assistance, that's what my mom worried.
My mom had @tears on her eyes again. My mom encouraged me a lot to be well. They made me drink a very bitter juice out of papaya leaves, boiled leaves of a plant called euphorbia hirta just to make my platelet count ascend to normal. My 1st CBC check up was 107 platelet count, it increased a little so we were a little happy. 2nd CBC check up was 147. Now, we have high hopes of me getting a lot better and a very few steps was needed for me to be discharged. At the 3rd CBC check up, my platelet count dropped from 147 to 47. My mom burst in @tears while I blankly stared at the ceiling also shedding @tears. We really lack of money at that time, but thank God! my dad borrowed some cash from his colleagues.
While at the ambulance, my mom silently cried and poured a lot of @tears from her eyes. We arrived at the provincial hospital around 3:00 pm and waited for like 5 hours at the waiting room until I was entertained by a doctor. They interviewed my mom and after, they sent me to my room. My mom again shed @tears for she said that she cannot bare looking at me in that situation. I was speechless. I really wanted to cry too but I fought it, I needed to be strong for the sake of my family, I needed to stop my @tears, I needed to fight for this disease cause I know I can conquer it.
They've run a CBC test on me every 4 hours and at the first day I got 22 - 24 - 26 - 20 - 31 platelet count. It was relatively small and it really bothers mom a lot. Hearing that triggered her eyes to shed some @tears again. Maybe I'll be staying in the hospital a lot longer than we expected. Those number may be seem small but I was really totally blessed to not feel any pain while staying there. It miraculously vanished after the doctor sent me to the Provincial hospital, which I don't unserstand why? It was a good thing to me cause some patients with a higher platelet count had experienced paleness, fatigue and a high fever.
At the second test, it was progressively ascending which is a good sign 'cause I may be home sooner. At the 4th CBC check up, this was my platelet counts, 74 - 111 - 124 - 148. My mom rejoiced a little after she heard that I only need 2 more to become normal, she was relentlessly praying to God until the last CBC of the day arrived. The needle pricked my middle finger as blood gushed to the mini container. The nurse said that we have to wait for tomorrow for the result. I silently prayed that I would go back to normal 'cause I was tired from just lying on the bed not doing something since they farbade me to walk for some unknown reasons. I fell asleep after that.
Tomorrow. While waiting for the result. It was a bit suspense 'cause the doctor had to roam around and check the patients she was assigned. We waited for an hour until she arrived at my room.
She said that my platelet count had improved a lot, from 148 it went up to 236. Yeah, at the third day I was discharged, my mom was really happy and shed @tears of happiness in her eyes while I just smiled not knowing that a @tear had dropped on my cheeks.
