Now Artificial Intelligence can detect Sexual Orientation from Faces

Artificial Intelligence is doing new wonders everyday. It’s being used to write books, compose music albums, defeat gaming champions on their best domains and so much more. Now recently, the researchers at Stanford University have used artificial intelligence to predict the sexuality of a person with a surprising accuracy.

In this research, 35k images were considered as sample, it was found that the computer algorithm was able to correctly distinguish between gay and straight men in 81% of the instances. While human judges were able to do that with less accuracy.

All the images were taken from an online dating website. These images were fed to software called VGG-Face, which assigns a unique ‘faceprint’ number to each face. After that, using a AI predictive model named logistic regression, the correlations between a person’s facial features and sexuality is determined. This process involves training this neural network first with lots of pictures first.
