Akasha Social Network Built On Ethereum Alpha Pre-Release Initial Review With Screenshots!

in #technology7 years ago (edited)

Just got an email from Akasha regarding their Alpha Pre-Release for testing!

Right away I can tell you the 12 sec Ethereum block time is a major problem. There is major lag between actions on the site that will need to be addressed before mass adoption. I personally had to use the .zip archive for Linux because the .deb installer did not work correctly.

The chain synced quickly for me, but this was just launched. Syncing an entire chain may be an issue later on for people wanting to test it out.

Sign up was simple, however after suggesting you backup your wallet there is no info on how to do so. I found my keystore file in the app data.

I was able to get the user name "cody" so pretty hyped about that!

First login was a bit disappointing and just showed a spinning wheel, had to start clicking around to get anything to show up.

Adding content to the first post was not difficult and uploading the pics directly into the app is very nice compared to steemit.

Had to publish each tag that did not exist yet, not sure if there are any advantages to that. The whole process was a bit buggy and test tags added kept showing up after being removed.

After publishing it had multiple posts in my feed, one for each used tag.

So far very interesting and I look forward to the development. A long way to go but a very good Pre-Alpha Release. Download and install information below if you are interested in checking it out, make sure to give me a follow on there!

give me a break

I'm sure there is a hard fork joke in here somewhere.

Dead before launch. 12s... hahaha.

Not sure if you have tested it but the delay is rough. I feel like if it was instant on the app and just qued the action to be published on the chain it may be fine. Will be interesting to see how they deal with it. Personally it has made me want to double down on steemit. akasha was the main competition imo

That would be better. But lag = death, we're not in the 90's. People won't tolerate it. Pipe dream otherwise.

I would agree with that, Akasha has a long way to go.

I registered for alpha notification ages ago. But I've got no email! :(

I honestly thought the project was stalled really. Was surprised to get the email when I did. The links in my post are all that was in the email, feel free to give it a go.
