How To Get Kodi - The Netflix for Pirates That The MPAA Doesn't Want You to Know About

in #technology8 years ago (edited)

An open source media project known as Kodi has the MPAA all hot and bothered. Thanks to this open source software it's never been easier to cut the cord and let go of that cable or satellite TV bill. Kodi is the product of Xbox hackers in the early 2000's that realized with all the computing power, storage ability and network functionality they had in their Xboxes they could make a kickass streaming device and so XBMC was born. The project ended up expanding well beyond Xboxes and took the new moniker Kodi.

The optimal way to run Kodi these days is with a dedicated Android set top box like one of the ones below that can be purchased cheaply on Amazon:

Fxexblin T95X TV Box Android

You aren't limited to using one of these dedicated boxes though. Kodi also runs on Windows, Mac OS X, iOS and Linux. No matter your platform you can find a version of Kodi for it here on the official Kodi download page. Go ahead and download Kodi from that link and install it.

The real power in Kodi comes from the addons this is what some retailers will charge a premium to pre-install for you. There is no reason to pay extra for a fully loaded set top box. The process is very easy.

TVAddons.ag has done all the hard work for you. Check out their promo video below:

After you have downloaded and installed Kodi:

Step 1 - Fusion Installer

Rather than reinvent the wheel and copy their entire tutorial I will just link to it. Head to https://www.tvaddons.ag/fusion-installer-kodi/ for detailed instructions on setting up the Fusion Installer.

Step 2 - TVAddons.ag Config Wizard

I really can't stress enough how much TVAddons makes what used to be a a tedious process in to something quick and simple. Follow the instructions on this page https://www.tvaddons.ag/config-wizard-kodi/ to use the config wizard which will install all the best addons that you'll need.

You're Done!

That's it, you've now installed everything you need to watch pretty much anything on the planet that's available on-line. Here are some of the great apps that should now be installed in your Kodi:

Take your time trying out each addon you'll learn each one has is pros and cons. Some are more reliable for live television while others may be better for streaming movies on demand. You can also go into the Installer add-on and browse a complete list of all the addons available.

Have fun!

It's funny isn't it, we all behave as if we have a right to watch free stuff on the internet. Forgetting that it costs money to make; and then we complain when the quality drops, as in the music industry.

TV in 20 years will be non existent, and the plethora of crap that will be spewed out from now till then, will be pretty depressing.

This is one of the most valuable things I've read on Steemit lately. Thanks for posting!

Exudus included. best addon ever.

I was just having a conversation about this the other day and here you have the manual lol good post*

Great post. I forget the name of the company but they used to create a custom skin for XBMC and it was available as one of the early projects for jailbroken 1st Gen Apple TVs - I used to run it back then. That introduced me to XBMC. I might check out one of these dedicated devices and see what Kodi is like.

you can also download it to try out. I have it on both android phone and my laptop.

I frigging love Kodi (once known as XBMC). Though I must admit sometimes the lag is terrible on watching movies and shows...when it is working well it is the best thing out there.

now this is tempting, my TV barely gets used since we stopped watching live TV

Thanks for sharing, going to try now!
