Cambridge Analytica Closing Operations Following Facebook Data Controversy
The British consultancy Cambridge Analytica, involved in the controversy over its unauthorized access to the data of millions of Facebook users , closes its doors, according to The Wall Street Journal published today.
This was confirmed to the New York newspaper by the founder of the Cambridge Analytica matrix , SCL Group, Nigel Oakes, who also ceases operations.
Cambridge Analytica, linked to the electoral campaign of the now president of the United States, Donald Trump, made effective today its closure, which he attributes to the loss of clients and "increasing" legal expenses.
The company Cambridge Analytica created an application with which it obtained the data of millions of Facebook users that it later used for electoral purposes.
The firm said in a statement that it has been " vilified by activities that are not only legal , but also widely accepted as a standard component of online advertising , both in the political and commercial areas."
Both CA and its parent company, SCL Elections, have begun proceedings to declare themselves insolvent in the United Kingdom , according to their note, and Cabridge Analytica also plans to begin a similar legal process in the United States.
