It sounds similar to thermal detection devices. How they work is they receive a signal from heat or metal, that you are putting out. Thermal devices are actually a lot more efficient at detecting many things such as tumors, arthritis etc...unfortunately they are too affordable and less profitable.
Oh yeah, fuck the surveillance state. ;)
