Net Neutrality 🔄 - Are legislators stupid?
Net Neutrality
A term thats simple form mirrors its simple meaning:
All packages are created equal
And because of this simple truth they should be handled the same way by every service.
But as the world is not a perfect place, packages may be equal, but some users of the web, like streaming services create far more packages than others.
Therefore it is easy to think that these packages should be labeled as less important than others.
Why should I wait for my mail the same time as someone loading an entire movie?
This thought is false. Not because of itself, but because Net Neutrality is the basis of the free web we know today. (Even of Stemmit itself!)
There are more than enough reasons for Net Neutrality and there are millions of sources where you can find them.
But I want to focus on something else.
Are our legislators evil or just plain stupid. Of course it is hard to decide the fait of an entire nation. Of course it is hard to inform yourself about every topic you have to vote about.
But if you can't do that then get a new job!
You should not trust lobbyists. You should trust neutral experts.
Over in the US you have this problem with Net Neutrality. Here in Europe some of our legislators want to put fees on links. Yes, onto the small pieces of text that bring you to another page.
example.com
If this was a link, not just text, I would have to pay the owner of example.com some money (or the person who hosts Stemmit to be more precise)
What the ####
Because of this I seriously doubt the expertise of our legislators.
