Might as well trying to secure an alexa or iphone, you simply don't control it. it is not an OS designed to give people control over their computers, it is an OS designed to give people control over other people, and eviscerate the idea of personal computing.

Thanks, I am well aware of the issues. However, even if you use linux, the CPUs themselves are open to exploits anyway. The purpose of using the software I pointed to in this post is to minimise the amount of points of failure and also the possible attack vectors, such as old drivers with known flaws.
Idk maybe you miss the point.
You are trying to fix the deeper layer issues while the higher layers are simply open.
i.e. i clicked a EULA that says the creators of my OS can spy on me freely but I need to make sure that I am not vulnerable to the NSA's intel inside backdoors.
You see the irony of that right? At this point I am still in an evangelistic mode, stop using surveillance platforms which applies to google, amazon, and microsoft especially. I see everyone in the world doing everything they can to keep using 'the cloud', thinking there is no more use for 'personal computing', and it is so bizarre to me because at the OUTSET of COMPUTING, everyone was terrified of this happening.
It is really strange to me, these entities have no record whatsoever or performing responsibly or ethically yet there remains a mentality like 'what bad could happen? why so paranoid bro?'
It's a mania of historically epic proportions and those fighting it against it like myself are being treated basically like witches.
I have exposed and posted about these topics for over a decade - I am not trying to gloss over anything, I am simply providing ways to optimise whatever we have. I am not claiming the technology is secure, if you read the privacy/tracking page on my own social network, you will see that I openly state that true digital security is ultimately probably impossible and not to post anything to the web that you aren't happy with everyone seeing.
When it comes to pc security, there are many possible threats and some have valid defences and others might not. There is no alternative 'better' form of driver for these devices that is more secure - many have no open source versions, so the only option if we are to use windows is to find the best version. Once open source software emerges that can match the proprietary software in all fields, then Windows might cease to exist, but right now there are numerous apps and entire fields of activity for which there is no suitably high quality replacement for the proprietary Windows/Mac apps and so collectively we continue to use them.
fair enough, i appreciate the thoughtful response.
i have used and would continue to use, if i had the resources, windows for local applications such as gaming and 3d drafting.
But my windows machines are/would be/have been airgapped and I recommend everyone else do the same.
The message being, windows is not a network 'Personal Computer' operating system unless you want you own mind to be consumed by/integrated with The Network(tm) in such a way that it is no longer in any way a Personal Computer.
You are welcome. I agree that air gapping is ideal - though not always entirely practical. I'm not really sure that even linux/gnu based OSs are guaranteed to be safe anyway - the hardware level exploits alone mean that is hard to guarantee.
maybe the distinction is that, I am at least trying. people who are using windows 10 on a network need to be told that other attempts at security will be farcical so that they don't waste their time, or live in a fantasy world.
i may live in a fantasy world and my processors may be reporting on me all the time, but dammit ive tried to have some privacy and the only chance ill have of getting any at all is my efforts. And also the only evidence that the people abusing me, stealing my rights, permanently recording my every action and selling/leaking it or whatever, are doing it against my will.
