Animal Health Organization: Afghanistan reports two outbreaks of bird flu
PARIS (Reuters) - Afghanistan has reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian flu, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) said on Tuesday, quoting a report by Afghanistan's Agriculture Ministry.
The H5 virus was discovered in a kennel in Kabul, killing six birds and the nearby village of Bagrami, killing 15 birds, the Paris-based group said in a report on its Web site.
No details were given on the virus or the type of infected birds.
