Ive built my first Musical Tesla Coil!
Here is my completed Musical Double Resonant Solid State Tesla Coil (DRSSTC)
Ive spent a year in development with research and building the project.
It is capable of sending electrical arcs of 2.5M or more.
Here is the assembled capacitor bank which stores the energy released into the primary coil.
This is a 3D printed fan grill, the Mitsubishi logo is because this company makes the powerful transistors that drive this coil.
I was checking how everything fitted into place here.
Assembling the primary coil from 8mm copper pipe, this has to handle 1000A of current!
Inverter unit almost fully assembled with the busbars connecting the IGBT's.
Here is the MIDI interrupter that sends a signal over a fibre optic cable to the coil's driver board.
This connects to a USB port on the computer and plays MIDI tunes to modulate the coil and make it play music.
Here are the busbars that I CNC cut that connect the main DC bus together. These take 680VDC of electricity.
Below is the driver board i assembled that drives the large IGBT transistors :)

Holy shit the end result is badass. I love that's just in your garage. Super surreal. I love Steem and I love that you're on it. How safe do you think it is?
Its pretty safe, as long as you dont get too close to it while running! I think the streamers would be enough to deter people away from getting too close, but I can turn it off instantly at the flick of a switch.
The streamers are not the real main danger though, as its very low current. The lethal voltages are on the primary circuit that drives the coil.
I love the phrasing..."oh not don't worry about those lightning bolts, the REAL LETHAL SHIT is over here."
lol, i know how you feel. The lightning bolts do look rather scary, but not alot worse than a tazer gun. the primary coil is much lower voltage but Far higher current.
This is cool!!! Electric! Looks pretty dangerous though.
Its not as dangerous as you think when the proper precautions are taken, i did my first public show with it a couple of weeks ago and i hope to do more, I hope to have my new Youtube channel running soon with more videos - Watch this space!

This is really cool! That's a massive tesla coil to build in your garage too. I saw this post when it was at a few pennies, a needle in the haystack. Glad to see people appreciating it a bit more now.

TBH, i never ever thought i would end up building one myself! I have a bit to do with electronics and was inspired after watching other peoples videos on youtube and said to myself that i have to build one too. lol
