I am not a huge fan of antivirus programs to be honest. I just use the free version of malwarebytes.
If your PC is running slow even when there is not much load I suggest you to do
- Update virus definition of your antivirus
- Dofull scan
- Defragment your drives
- Uninstall unnecessary programs
- Remove unimportant programs from startup
These might help.
