Reasons why Linux is better than Windows!

So, here is my unpopular opinion - Linux is better than Windows. Yeah, you read it correctly. Its not the other way around. Now, before you start flaming me in the comment section about how i am wrong, let me explain my reasons for it.

Virus vulnerability in Linux is much more lower than in Windows

Now, i'm not saying that there are no viruses for Linux. But Windows is simply more vulnerable. Why? Because Windows is the most used computer OS, so the malware developers will select it as their target. Hence, this is the reason why there are very little known malware developed for Linux.

Linux is free

Some people say that you get what you pay for, but this example doesn't seem to fit with Windows. Linux has all the programs you need to use a computer, and it's completely free. I don't know about you, but Windows doesn't seem to be a good deal to me, if i'm comparing it to Linux.

There is a lot to choose from

Since Linux itself isn't a operating system, but a kernel, people can create their own flavours of Linux called distros (short for distributions.) Examples: Ubuntu, Arch, Zorin, Kali, etc.

Linux performs better than Windows

Linux, even with all the effects and shiny features of the modern desktop environments runs faster than Windows 10. Do you need all of your processing power taken up with the operating system, or do you want something with a lighter footprint, letting you get on with your work?

Linux is fully customizable

Since Linux is FOSS (Free Open Source Software), you can modify the kernel, and/or create your own distribution or a kernel spinoff. Besides that, there are tons of desktop enviroments developed for Linux, like LXDE, XFCE4 or GNOME.

Linux is able to run on almost any computer.

Windows is only available for the IA-32 and x86-64 platforms. Linux however, is able to run on ARM, x86-64, IA-32, PPC, PA-RISC... more succinctly: all generally available processor platforms.

Fact: Android is built on a modified Linux kernel!

going to have to check out a linux distro, have you ever checked out drive droid ? convenient way to install a distro using your phone as a boot disc.

Yes i have, in fact i'm using it. I have ditched DVDs because this is much more convenient for me.

Excellent post but the fact is that people are afraid of linux because they think of it as a command line universe for geeks only. To be honest, i have to agree with them for certain things. If you're an unexperienced user and you crash your linux, you'll have to find someone that knows how linux work or some tips on the internet to repair your computer. If you get your computer to a local store, there is a very low chance that someone will get his hands in your system. This is critical for Linux, because, Windows, if you crash your pc, every computer guy can have a look at it, even inexperienced ones.

Yeah, that's why it's advisable to start off light with a distro like Ubuntu before you dive into something a bit more advanced like Arch. Sucks getting used to things at first, but once you're good at it you feel like a damned genius navigating the command line. Also, unix is fun to code with.

I'm typing this on my laptop with Linux right now! I've been using Linux as my primary operating system for well over a decade now.

I switched to Linux about 5 years ago, and i love it. The customization of the system and the superior performance is just golden.
