You can find some older ones fairly cheap on Ebay but if a part goes, you are not easily able to fix it.
Their 15 Drive solutions, even their $4,821 solution is less than half the hardware I am doing for around $1,000. For less than $1,700 I also have 60TB of drives and a spare disk.
Very expensive, I'm not a fan of unraid because of speed, but it is really nice. People who use it LOVE it. I don't want to have to run SSD drives to buffer writes and have them later scheduled to some other time to be moved to the disks. It just doesn't make me feel good.
It's actually not bad. They used to be a lot better (like most things).
There really isn't a "great" Chinese place anywhere anymore it seems. Super hit or miss.

I'm not paying $4,821 for a better case.
$4821 is expensive.. i kinda like unraid solution ...

I will be using ZFS so it won't be easier to manage or add capacity, but it will be faster and more reliable. I decided to make that trade-off.
For many, Unraid is a fantastic low maintenance option.
